Position Overview:
The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities. The Staff Accountant will also be involved in the transactional work tied to disbursements and funding.
Essential Duties:
Performs general cost accounting.
Prepares monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
Maintains the general ledger.
Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
Reconciles bank accounts, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts.
Ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
Files tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
Education & Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related field, required.
3+ years of related experience required.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, NetSuite, Salesforce, and Quickbooks.
Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
Experience in preparing tax reports is a plus.
Skills Needed:
Strong organizational skills and a high level of attention to detail.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong working knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. To be demonstrated by the following:
Oral Comprehension - The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
Written Expression - The ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand. Written work product requires little if any grammar and /or spelling corrections.
The Ideal Candidate:
Equipment leasing experience is a plus.
Has experience working at a smaller-sized organization that requires a wide range of responsibilities and the ability to embrace the concept of “other duties as assigned” in the spirit of teamwork.
Can deliver both quantity and quality of work.
Has the ability to maintain a pleasant manner, tact, and diplomacy in challenging circumstances.
Ability to be productive and efficient under varying volumes of workload and rapidly shifting priorities.
