Company Overview:Our client, a well-established company located in Pioneer Square, Seattle, is looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join their team. This is a crucial role that ensures the accurate and timely processing of biweekly payroll for a diverse workforce. The ideal candidate will bring strong payroll processing experience, attention to detail, and an understanding of payroll compliance and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Process biweekly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy in pay, deductions, and tax calculations.
Maintain and update payroll records, including new hires, terminations, and changes in pay or benefits.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including tax withholdings, garnishments, and benefits.
Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
Prepare and submit payroll taxes and reports to federal, state, and local agencies.
Administer benefits-related deductions, including health insurance, retirement contributions, and other employee benefits.
Assist with year-end payroll processing, including the preparation and distribution of W-2 forms.
Coordinate with HR and Finance teams to ensure smooth handling of payroll-related matters, such as employee status changes, benefits enrollment, and deductions.
Maintain confidentiality and security of payroll data.
Qualifications:
2+ years of payroll processing experience, with familiarity in biweekly payroll cycles.
Strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax filings, and compliance.
Experience with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, or similar).
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and advanced formulas.
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with employees at all levels.
Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality with sensitive payroll information.
Payroll certification (e.g., CPP) is a plus but not required.
