Position Summary

NOTE: CHATTAHOOCHEE VALLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE OBSERVES EASTERN TIME.

Under the direction of the Dean of Instruction, the person in this position manages the College's Learning Resource Center (LRC). Pursuant to Alabama Act. 2024-360 and Alabama Community College Policy and Procedure 204.01, neither tenure or non-probationary status may be attained in this position.

Salary: Appropriate placement on Salary Schedule C3, Rank II: $57,507-$91,145, which is based on years of directly related full-time experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Maintain regular and predictable attendance. 2. Develop, implement, and evaluate long-range goals and objectives for the LRC operations. 3. Promote the LRC services in the community. 4. Develop, implement, and evaluate library policies and procedures. 5. Develop, implement, and evaluate library policies and procedures. 6. Assess library resources and comply with the SACSCOC standards. 7. Supervise and evaluate full-time and part-time library staff. 8. Oversee library collection development and material acquisitions. 9. Provide reference and circulation services. 10. Assist in cataloging and interlibrary loans. 11. Ensure off-site instructional workshops on resource and information literacy for faculty and staff when requested. 12. Facilitate LRC orientation/training for all faculty and staff annually. 13. Provide instructional workshops on resource and information literacy for faculty and staff when requested. 14. Serve as faculty liaison to maintain current library resources for programs of study. 15. Develop and maintain current lib-guides for students. 16. Develop and update information literacy videos for CANVAS and other online learning platforms. 17. Prepare purchase requests for library books and supplies. 18. Receive and process newly purchased library books and supplies. 19. Maintain invoices and balance records with the Business Office.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Adheres to all policies and procedures set forth by the College. 2. Maintain confidentiality of identified sensitive information and of departmental information. 3. Remain current in and enhance professional knowledge and skills through professional development and continuing education. 4. Interact with and serve diverse student and employee populations in a courteous and friendly manner. 5. Adhere to College standards of professionalism and confidentiality, including courteous and friendly interaction with other CVCC employees. 6. Maintain appropriate work hours as outlined in the State and College policies, and assigned by the supervisor or dean. 7. Recruit potential students, both traditional and nontraditional, for the College, and assist in retention efforts. 8. Represent the institution in a positive manner. 9. Participate in advance registration, regular registration, and schedule adjustment as assigned. 10. Serve on committees as assigned. 11. Participate in graduation. 12. Participate in the College's planning process. 13. As a Campus Security Authority (CSA), report to the official or office designated by the institution to collect crime report information, such as the campus police or security department, those allegations of Clery Act crimes that the CSA concludes were made in good faith. 14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution, in Library and Information Science (MLIS), or the equivalent from an American Library Association accredited graduate program A minimum of one (1) year of directly related full-time experience in a college or university automated library. (A minimum of two (2) years of part-time experience may be considered.) Documented supervisory experience Demonstrated familiarity with current library technology Excellent interpersonal skills, including experience interacting with a diverse faculty, staff, and students Evidence of a proactive, student-centered library service philosophy and sensitivity to the expectations of library patrons Effective oral and written communication skills; proficiency in the English language Competent use of the Microsoft Office suite. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of five (5) years of directly related full-time experience in an automated college or university setting

Sick Leave All regular full-time non-instructional staff earns one day of sick leave which is the equivalent of 8 hours of sick leave per month. Unused sick leave is rolled over to the following year. Upon retirement, employees are allowed to convert unused sick time into service time for the purpose of retirement. Retirement The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions. Responsibility for the management and administration of the TRS is vested in its Board of Control. Tuition Assistance This tuition waiver program is designed for all full-time instructional and non-instructional employees of The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education and their dependents as defined under by policy. The program will be coordinated by each institution for employees within The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education. An application form for the tuition assistance program is available in the Human Resources office and should be completed prior to registration for classes.
