Position Summary

NOTE: CHATTAHOOCHEE VALLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE OBSERVES EASTERN TIME.

This position involves performance duties for a federally funded project and is contingent on continued federal funding. In the event that funds for this position are discontinued or significantly reduced or if federal requirements for funding the project no longer include this position, the College shall have the right to discontinue the position. Neither tenure nor non-probationary status may be attained in this position, the funding and duration of which are finite.

Under the direction of the CIRSS Program Manager, the person in this position is responsible for communications projects and other public relations activities supporting the CIRSS program.

Salary: Appropriate placement on Salary Schedule E3 04: ($40,850-$57,251), which is based on years of directly related full-time experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Maintain regular and predictable attendance. 2. Maintain confidentiality of identified sensitive information and confidentiality of departmental information. 3. Serve as internal and external public relations/public information coordinator for the CIRSS program. 4. Write internal and external communications, including press releases, as directed by the Program Manager or Program Director. 5. Develop communication and/or marketing materials to promote the vision, mission, goals, and achievements of the CIRSS program. 6. Proactively or in response to requests, submit materials to journals, associations, or other external media. 7. Write web page content; increase the online presence of the CIRSS program in collaboration with the Public Information Officer for the College. 8. Research and compose content for dissemination through a variety of media, such as internal or external publications, brochures, posters, newsletters, websites, and presentations. 9. Assist with taking photos for CIRSS events. 10. Assist with planning special events and meetings, as well as participate in conferences and professional development activities for CIRSS related activities. 11. Design and coordinate printing of materials for CIRSS. 12. Maintain files, databases, and electronic records of materials. 13. Assist with and participate in recruiting activities, campus tours, Preview Days, and New Student Experience to promote the CIRSS program.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by the College. 2. Remain current in and enhance professional knowledge and skills through professional development and continuing education. 3. Interact and serve a diverse student population in a courteous and friendly manner. 4. Adhere to College standards of professionalism and confidentiality, including courteous and friendly interaction with other CVCC employees. 5. Maintain appropriate work hours as outlined in State and College policies and assigned by supervisor or dean. 6. Recruit potential students to the College and assist in retention efforts. 7. Represent the institution in a positive manner. 8. Attend department and division meetings. 9. Participate in registration, regular registration, and schedule adjustment as assigned. 10. Serve on committees as assigned. 11. Participate in graduation. 12. Participate in the College's strategic planning and strategic enrollment management planning processes. 13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in English, Social Sciences, Marketing, Communications, or a related field One (1) or more years of full-time experience in outreach, community engagement, or a related role, preferably within higher education, workforce development, or rural community services. High degree of workplace professionalism Ability to maintain confidentiality Strong work ethic and ability to work independently Strong organizational skills Ability to work a flexible, non-standard work week Effective oral and written communication skills; proficiency in the English language Competent use of the Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and/or Outlook PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with event planning and/or public relations

Sick Leave All regular full-time non-instructional staff earns one day of sick leave which is the equivalent of 8 hours of sick leave per month. Unused sick leave is rolled over to the following year. Upon retirement, employees are allowed to convert unused sick time into service time for the purpose of retirement. Retirement The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions. Tuition Assistance This tuition waiver program is designed for all full-time instructional and non-instructional employees of The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education and their dependents as defined under by policy. The program will be coordinated by each institution for employees within The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education.
