Part-Time Payment Processing Clerk
Bishop & Company is looking for a Part-Time Payment Processing Clerk
The primary responsibility of this position is to process customer payments in a timely manner and in accordance with company policies and procedures. Banking, cashiering and payment/bill handling related experience is highly desirable, along with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
- Receives payments from customers by mail/drop box, cash processing, balances all payments, verifies/resolves discrepancies and prepares daily reports.
- Performs cash processing duties as assigned; applies payments to customer accounts and prepares checks for deposit to banks.
- Processes authorized general ledger payments and disbursement requests from employees.
- Obtains information from customers via telephone, form letter, etc. regarding proper application of payments.
- Processes payments to suspended accounts and makes necessary transfers.
- Obtains records or other information for customer accounts from various files and registers.
- Checks records for payments made on customer accounts.
- Processes non-routine bill payments for Oahu, Hawaii Island and Maui, and field work documents using the online system for Oahu bills.
- Answers telephones and takes messages; provides routine information or prepares orders as directed.
- Sorts and distributes bills, work orders, and computer reports; maintains log and files.
- May obtain information from customers, banks, telephone company, etc. concerning maintenance of records and proper application of payments.
- Types letters, creates and produces Excel reports, bills, etc.; maintains various files.
- Opening mail, sorting checks, filing, answering general phone calls.

- Demonstrated proficiency in using a PC and Microsoft software programs. At a minimum, this includes the following:
· Able to complete basic tasks including but not limited to being able to navigate the desktop, folders, files, cut and paste, etc.
· Excel: Able to format text, utilize formulas, etc.
· Word: Able to format text, use mail merge, etc.
- Satisfactory completion of accounting course work from an accredited business college or equivalent institution or equivalent accounting work experience. Experience with payment processing, billing highly desirable.
- Analytical, computational, organizational and time-management skills to handle various assignments with minimal supervision.
- Ability to learn new software systems to assist with payment processing functionality and product testing.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively as a member of a team and build strong working relationships with a variety of individuals.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task, remain flexible and positive in a demanding work environment and adapt to rapidly changing priorities and strategic direction
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Be able to lift, carry, stack, handle mail and packages, cartons of paper and other stationery materials weighing up to 65 pounds.
- At least 3-5 years of general office and clerical experience.
- Demonstrated 10-key proficiency.
- SAP or equivalent enterprise/customer information system experience desired, but not required.
Additional Information:
• Position Type: Six (6) month - one (1) year initial assignment, with possibility of extension based on business requirements, performance, budget
• Schedule: Part-Time, 7:30am - 11:30am (Part Time)
• Location: Downtown, Honolulu. Alii Place
• Parking: at own cost, available stalls in building, on street, nearby garages
• Pay: $20/hr.
