Job Function:The ReStore Cashier is expected to complete transactions from seller to buyer in an efficient and friendly manner. Must have excellent cash handling skills, a professional demeanor and remain friendly and polite when faced with difficult customer situations.
Reports To: ReStore Manager
Responsibilities:
- Greet arriving customers
- Operate sales counter
- Operate cash register to document merchandise sales
- Follow established procedures for customer sales
- Respond to customer inquiries
- Direct customers to appropriate areas of the store
- Help to price and organize product as it arrives
- Promptly returning calls from prospective donors and scheduling donation pick-ups when needed.
- Creating efficient pick-up schedules and routes for the ReStore Truck Driver when needed
- Assist other volunteers as needed
- Assist on loading and unloading of product as needed.
- Interacting positively with donors and customers.
- Providing superior customer service to donors and customers.
- Following all store policies and procedures.
Other Duties as Assigned by the ReStore Manager
Qualifications:
· Must be comfortable handling money and operating cash register.
· Knowledge and experience in retail sales.
· Team building a real plus.
· Must be a good listener and be able to engage in well-considered discussions.
· Must have good anticipatory abilities and personally act on same as need arises.
· Must be willing to understand the big picture of the HFH ministry and know that ReStore is only a part of the larger goal.
· Work is performed in a retail/warehouse environment.
· Must be people-oriented, flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to advocate the mission of Salt Lake Valley Habitat for Humanity
· Must have a professional demeanor and remain friendly and polite when faced with difficult customer situations.
· Must possess the ability to plan, organize and handle multiple functions simultaneously and communicate clearly and courteously, both verbally and in writing.
· Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are required.
Hours and Benefits:
- Hours: Average 40 hours per week, may vary seasonally. Some work outside normal business hours is expected.

Work Environment:
· The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Flexible hours of availability are required due to the demands of the retail environment
Physical Demands:
· The minimum physical requirements for this position include:
· Lifting at least 7 to 10 lbs on a routine basis; lifting may exceed 40 lbs in certain instances;
· Bending, climbing and twisting are routine; the position requires the ability to retrieve, stock, and move product;
· Manual dexterity; working with cash registers and computers, assembly of some products; ability to quickly make appropriate change for customers
· The ability to see and read product labels, dispense product knowledge, and communicate with our customer base.
· Ability to stand and walk store consistently for up to 4 hours or more at a time.
· Ability to physically handle all merchandise purchased by customers to scan, bag and place back in the customers shopping cart.
· Move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store, which entails lifting and perform all functions as set for in the sales associate job description.
· Ability to restock area shelves with product and ability to clean and dust all shelves daily.
