Position Overview

The Controller will be responsible for managing all aspects of financial operations. This includes overseeing the accounting team, preparing accurate financial statements, managing internal controls, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The Controller will work closely with the CFO and other senior leaders to provide strategic financial guidance, manage budgeting and forecasting processes, and contribute to the overall financial health and growth of the company.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Financial Reporting & Analysis
    • Prepare and oversee the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
    • Perform detailed financial analysis and reporting to provide insights into business performance, identifying trends, variances, and potential risks.
    • Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and tax filings, ensuring compliance with all regulations and standards.
  2. Internal Controls & Compliance
    • Ensure proper internal controls are in place to safeguard the company's assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
    • Monitor financial systems and accounting procedures for compliance with GAAP, company policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
    • Stay current with changes in accounting standards and tax laws to ensure the company remains compliant.
  3. Budgeting & Forecasting
    • Lead the annual budgeting process and assist in financial forecasting for operations, capital expenditures, and long-term financial goals.
    • Collaborate with department heads to assess financial performance, identify areas of improvement, and develop cost-saving strategies.
    • Provide financial projections and support business decision-making with actionable insights.
  4. Cash Flow Management
    • Oversee cash management and optimize working capital by managing accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory.
    • Monitor cash flow and provide timely reports to senior leadership on liquidity status and capital requirements.
  5. Team Leadership & Development
    • Manage and develop a high-performing finance team, providing leadership, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
    • Review the team's work and ensure adherence to established accounting procedures and policies.
    • Foster a collaborative and efficient working environment within the finance department and across the company.
  6. Strategic Support & Decision-Making
    • Collaborate with senior management to drive strategic initiatives, including mergers, acquisitions, capital investment, and other corporate finance activities.
    • Provide financial expertise and recommendations to improve profitability, cost management, and operational efficiencies.
    • Assist in developing financial strategies to support the company's growth plans, expansion into new markets, and investment in new product lines.
  7. Tax and Regulatory Reporting
    • Oversee the preparation of tax returns and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
    • Monitor changes in tax legislation and implement necessary adjustments to accounting procedures.
  8. System and Process Improvement
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and system enhancements within the finance department to increase efficiency and reduce errors.
    • Lead or participate in the implementation of financial software upgrades or system integrations.

Qualifications
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Required)
    • CPA or CMA designation (Preferred)
  • Experience:
    • 7+ years of accounting and financial management experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role (Required)
    • Experience in manufacturing or industrial sectors (Preferred)
    • Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements.
    • Experience with ERP systems and financial software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics). Microsoft Dynamics is a requirment
