THEROLE IN A NUTSHELL
We are looking for an experienced Employee Relations Consultant(ERC) to join our team. The ERC reporting to the Director, People & CultureBusiness Partner will be responsible for providing leadership, support and reasonedadvice to employees and leaders pertaining to a range of employee and labourrelations opportunities and issues. Theincumbent will also administer our People & Culture (P&C) programs andinitiatives in partnership with our People and Culture Team and well as Directorsand front-line leaders from the various lines of business.

The ERC reporting to the Director, People & CultureBusiness Partner will be responsible for providing leadership, support and reasonedadvice to employees and leaders pertaining to a range of employee and labourrelations opportunities and issues. Theincumbent will also administer our People & Culture (P&C) programs andinitiatives in partnership with our People and Culture Team and well as Directorsand front-line leaders from the various lines of business.
Specific accountabilities within the roleinclude:
- Collaborate closely with supervisors and managers as a trusted advisor enabling our workplace strategies and achieving our business goals and objectives.
- Provide supervisors and managers with coaching/consulting, tools, and resources to enable and empower them to effectively create, lead and manage a high performing team.
- Coach and guide supervisors and managers on all talent and performance management related processes and activities including performance optimization and annual performance reviews, policy interpretation, and P&C best practices.
- Provide effective counsel on corrective actions, terminations and performance improvement plans.
- Conduct investigations into alleged violations of the collective agreement, company policies and employment legislation and make recommendations for appropriate action. Resolve employee concerns, conflicts and issues promptly.
- Work with the P&C Centre of Excellence on the development and delivery of P&C programs and initiatives such as talent acquisition and development, total compensation, employee engagement, placing leader and employee experience top of mind, with a focus on fostering a diverse, inclusive, respectful team.
- Build and maintain supportive and collaborative working relationships between P&C, local union representatives, leadership and the workforce.
- Advise leaders on labour relations matters, including collective bargaining, contract administration, collective agreement interpretation, and grievance handling.
- Lean in on technology and data that provides insights to inform business decisions with a strong eye for continuous improvement.

Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in human resources management, labour relations or a related discipline
- Bilingualism (English/French) is strongly preferred
- Certified Human Resources Professional designation (CHRP or CHRL)
- Knowledge and understanding of employment legislation and labour law
- Commercial mindset, bringing business acumen and strong understanding of our product-led business and organizational philosophy to deliver with speed and responsiveness
- Highly developed critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated behaviours in resourcefulness, creative problem solving, curiosity and the strong desire to learn
- Strong change management experience and a proven change agent exhibits a balanced approach (empathetic/driven)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Inclusive leadership approach and a high value on diversity, inclusion, and equity in the workplace
- Sound judgment regarding ethics, discretion, and privacy, with ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Ability to occasionally travel within Canada
Experience
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a mid-level Human Resources role within a unionized environment (ideally 300 employees+) where you interpreted and administered a collective agreement and were accountable for workplace investigations
- Solid experience and exposure to employee relations issues with a demonstrated track record of arriving at mutually satisfactory outcomes, driving performance improvements, and obtaining stretch objectives and targets
- Record of accomplishment building effective relationships and partnering with all stakeholders in a highly collaborative manner (Leadership, Union partners, and employees) to build consensus and a positive work environment focused on achieving annual objectives and key deliverables
- Demonstrated effectiveness in previous performance management and change management scenarios, generating superior outcomes
- Demonstrated support implementing and maintaining diversity, inclusion and respectful workplace policies
