Position Overview:

As a vital member of our interdisciplinary team, we are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced HR Manager to support our organization's human resources initiatives and contribute to the development of a skilled, engaged, and motivated workforce. This role is essential in overseeing HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and compliance, to ensure we build and maintain a positive, productive workplace.

The HR Manager will collaborate closely with leadership and the HR team to develop, organize, and manage HR processes and initiatives that align with company goals. You will play a key role in fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment while addressing employee needs, resolving conflicts, and promoting professional growth.

To succeed in this position, the ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to think strategically and handle multiple HR functions simultaneously, and a strong understanding of employment laws and best practices. High levels of organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities will be critical for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide employee and labour relations guidance to leaders and staff on interpretation and application of policies and procedures, the collective agreement and employment related legislation.
  • Provide guidance, coaching and resources to leaders related to performance and attendance management processes, including situations requiring discipline or discharge.
  • Provide direction to all levels of employees for HR related issues.
  • Support HR programs such as training, innovation, employee recognition, activities and recreational programs in a way supporting internal equity and organization's competitiveness.
  • Support the administration and maintenance of payroll and employee benefit programs.
  • Participate in recruitment and selection, promotions, transfers, contract negotiation, job classification, performance evaluation, and employee relations according to policies and principals.
  • Discover new ways of attracting top talent and ensure that the Company has an emergency succession plan in place for unforeseen staffing changes.
  • Ensure compliance regarding regulations and laws by executing necessary policies and procedures.
  • Provide recommendations on leadership and organizational behaviours.
  • Contribute to development of leadership through focused development strategies including talent and performance management.
  • Provide guidance for change management initiatives.
  • Drive corporate culture that benefits performance.
  • Provide training for supervisors and above for performance management, conflict resolution, discipline and terminations.
  • Sustain and develop knowledge and understanding of existing and proposed laws and regulations affecting human resources management.
  • Perform continuous evaluation, development and execution of policies, programs and processes.
  • Investigate and provide resolutions for employee relations problems.
  • Participate in ongoing personal development and continuous learning.
  • Manage promoting processes and provide consultancy for managers.
  • Ensure that the company and its employees operate ethically.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with the company Mission statement, philosophy and ethical standards.
  • Manage worker compensation submissions and back to work programs. Act as liaison between worker compensation and employee.
  • Serves as a resource for payroll and benefits Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
  • University Degree in Business Administration, Human Resource management, Industrial or Labour Relations or related discipline.
  • CHRP or CHRL designation preferred.
  • A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of progressive Human Resources experience in a formal advisory or partnership role with proven success as a Human Resources Generalist.
  • Experience with ADP or similar HRIS product.
  • Experience in a unionized environment, preferably in Healthcare or the Public Sector.
  • Sound knowledge of human resource practices, theories, trends and employment legislation in order to provide professional guidance and direction.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of labour relations and contract administration
  • Exceptional relationship building and facilitation skills required to successfully motivate, coach, educate and negotiate with a demonstrated ability to influence positive change.
  • Excellent listening and reading comprehension skills in order to interpret, assess the significance of, and retain information communicated verbally and in writing.
  • Critical thinking and information seeking skills that contribute to effective workplace investigations.
  • Highly self-directed with strong collaboration and conflict resolutions skills.
  • Strong planning/organizational skills with the ability to be highly flexible and adaptable in order to manage multiple complex issues and competing priorities simultaneously
  • Discretion, judgement and ability to deal with highly confidential information, sensitive issues and emotional situations is a must.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with modern office technologies including database software, reporting programs and workforce data management.
