Find your future with us.Job SummaryAs an Astrodynamics Engineer, you will be the Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) for the Astrodynamics subsystem for a given program, study, or proposal. In addition to execution of technical design, analysis, and operation, you may be responsible for project and technical management activities to support programs, ensuring that high-quality work products are delivered on-time.In addition to your engineering responsibilities, as an experienced member of the team you will be expected to set the engineering standard for the Astro team. You will define methods, tools, and processes to follow, and you will be accountable for the quality of the work coming from the group at large. You will be expected to mentor other members of the team and develop the next generation of Astrodynamics engineering talent.This position's internal job code is Guidance, Nav & Controls Engr. Our team is currently hiring for a Level 4.ResponsibilitiesPerform astrodynamics and orbit analysesDetermine and derive astrodynamics requirements to perform customer missionsOptimize spacecraft trajectories based on fuel, time, and/or performance characteristicsDefine/develop tools and processes to be used by mission operations and the broader teamProvide mentorship, guidance, and assurance of engineering quality for the teamMinimum QualificationsBachelor of Science in aerospace engineering or other related technical or engineering discipline.7+ years industry experience in orbit analysis role(s) Experience in orbital mechanics, orbit design, or astrodynamicsExperience in modeling, simulation, and analysisExperience with orbit design and simulation software tools (e.g. GMAT, STK, COTS mission planning tools, etc.)Proficiency with scientific computing software (MATLAB, Python, Julia, Fortran, C++, etc.)Proficiency with numerical methods including linear algebra, integration and quadrature techniques, interpolation, and optimizationTechnical leadership experience, including requirements generation, delegation and management of technical tasks, and responsible engineering authority (REA) experience.This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.Preferred QualificationsMS or PhD in aerospace engineering or other related technical or engineering discipline10+ years industry experience in orbit analysis role(s) Experience with rendezvous and proximity operations or formation flightExperience with orbit determination and parameter estimation techniques (Batch and Sequential Estimation, Angles Only, Range Measurements, etc.)Experience with restricted three body, periodic, and quasi-periodic orbit modeling and designExperience with spacecraft trajectory optimization methods and software (Boundary Value Problem Solvers, NLP Solvers, Genetic Algorithms, Particle Swarm Optimization, etc.)Experience in linear, nonlinear, and optimal control methodsSpecialization in advanced orbital mechanics topics (e.g., trajectory optimization, relative motion maneuvering, orbit determination techniques, etc.)Ability to architect novel methods, algorithms, and solutions for complex mission analyses Development of industry leading knowledge, methods, and techniques within the realm of spacecraft guidance, navigation, and control (GNC)Active Top Secret security clearancePlease note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only of what is reasonably expected to be paid for the position.
