This is a global middle-office team that supports the global OTC Equity Swap Portfolio, Single Name, and Index derivative businesses. IST (Institutional Securities Technology) Institutional Securities Technology (IST) develops and oversees the overall technology strategy and bespoke technology solutions to drive and enable the institutional businesses and enterprise-wide functions. IST’s ‘clients’ include Fixed Income, Equities, Commodities, Investment Banking, Research, Prime Brokerage and Global Capital Markets. ESTAR Develops trading & Analytics platform for IST, structured OTC Trading, Market Making & risk platformfor IED TechnicalSpecialist This is a Associate position within our Technical Specialist function, which is responsible for providing extensive subject matter expertise and reinforcing the ability of business and technology audit teams to appropriately assess risk and determine and execute coverage. What you’ll do in the role: • Building high quality technology solutions for distributed server-side components.• Re-architect core components with modern architecture focusing on high availability, resiliency, and scalability.• Liaise with stakeholders, global team members and foster an inclusive and positive working environment in the team.• The candidate should possess good analytical skills, strong software engineering skills, a logical approach to problem solving, be able to work in a fast-paced environment liaising with demanding stakeholders to understand complex requirements and be able to prioritize work under pressure with minimal supervision. Qualifications What you’ll bring to the role: At least 2 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role• Excellent Java skills with open-source server-side technologies development experience.• Strong application design and Object-oriented skills• Strong fundamentals of domain/event/message driven architecture and, REST services• Hands on experience with modern distributed technologies such as messaging brokers (e.g. Apache Kafka) and distributed caching solutions (e.g. Hazelcast)• Good problem solving and analytical skills with strong knowledge of Data Structures/Algorithms• Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries and experience with RDBMS providers like Sybase, MSSQL, etc.• Agile development principle, methodologies, and DevOps adoption of CI/CD/CM.• Excellent verbal and written communication skills• Desired Skills (Optional)• Experience with scripting (Python) and the Linux platform.• Experience with Web technologies (Angular/React) What you can expect from Morgan Stanley We are committed to maintaining the first-class service and high standard of excellence that have defined Morgan Stanley for over 85 years.
