Job Description
An Engineer in the Build Strategy team will work to develop, maintain, expand, and refine the Build Strategy and associated analyses and evidence.
The Build Strategy is a key source of information to align Irving Shipbuilding Inc (ISI) functions, sub-contractors, and customers on the approach for the construction of ships at Irving Shipbuilding.

An Engineer in the Build Strategy team will work to develop, maintain, expand, and refine the Build Strategy and associated analyses and evidence.
The Build Strategy is a key source of information to align Irving Shipbuilding Inc (ISI) functions, sub-contractors, and customers on the approach for the construction of ships at Irving Shipbuilding.
Responsibilities
- Investigate and resolve potential issues to construction
- Perform capacity planning using simulation software for key work centers
- Document all required aspects of the Build Strategy
- Produce and contribute to the creation of the Build Schedule
- Collaborate with multiple ISI functional teams to improve and prepare Shipyard processes for production
- Review engineering documentation for application to and requirements for Build
Qualifications
- Education:
- Recognized Degree in Engineering.
- Registration with or eligible for registration with Engineers Nova Scotia as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng)
- Experience
- 4+ years of experience in a complex industrial and manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of design for build principles and their application.
- Strong technical writing skills, able to author, manage and maintain build procedure documentation
- Strong knowledge and ability for Data Analysis & Capture
- Demonstrated capability to analyze engineering data and understand how to translate it into a production context
- Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively in English, both orally and in writing
- Demonstrated capability to work collaboratively amongst a team and external stakeholders
