Guiding Harbor is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing foster care, adoption, residential care, and independent living services for children in need. Our Residential Program offers a safe, therapeutic environment for girls who have experienced trauma, providing them with the support they need to heal, grow, and thrive.
Position Overview
Guiding Harbor is seeking a compassionate and dedicated part-time Mental Health Therapist to join our Residential Program. The ideal candidate will provide therapeutic services to adolescent girls who have experienced trauma, abuse, or neglect. This role involves working closely with residents, staff, and case managers to support emotional and behavioral health, create individualized treatment plans, and provide counseling services in both individual and group settings.
- Part-time position with flexible scheduling options, approximately 15-20 hours per week.
- Competitive hourly compensation based on experience.
- Conduct individual and group therapy sessions with residents of the Girlstown Residential Program.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each resident's emotional and behavioral needs.
- Collaborate with residential staff, case managers, and external service providers to ensure comprehensive care for residents.
- Provide crisis intervention and support when necessary.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all therapeutic services provided, in accordance with state regulations and agency guidelines.
- Attend regular staff meetings and contribute to case planning and progress discussions.
- Participate in staff trainings and continuing education to stay informed about best practices in trauma-informed care.
- Provide guidance and support to residential staff in implementing therapeutic interventions within the daily routines of the residents.
- Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
- Current licensure in the State of Michigan (LMSW, LLMSW, LPC, or equivalent).
- Experience providing therapy to children or adolescents, preferably in a residential or trauma-focused setting.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care, child development, and therapeutic interventions.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to ethical practices and maintaining client confidentiality.
