SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Human Resource Manager, the Human Resource Generalist supports the day-to-day operations of the human resources department, ensuring the organization's HR practices are effective, compliant, and aligned with organizational goals. This role focuses on managing employee lifecycle processes, maintaining HR records, and providing guidance to employees and managers on HR policies and procedures.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administers recruitment activities, including job postings, screening resumes, and scheduling interviews.
- Conducts new hire orientation and ensures smooth onboarding processes.
- Manages offboarding processes, including conducting exit interviews and preparing necessary documentation.
- Acts as a point of contact for employee questions regarding policies, benefits, and procedures.
- Provides first-line guidance on HR-related issues and escalates complex matters to the HR Manager.
- Supports investigations related to employee relations matters as needed.
- Handles benefit enrollment, changes, and terminations.
- Assists employees with benefit-related inquiries and liaises with external benefits vendors.
- Processes payroll changes in the HRIS and ensures accuracy of records.
- Maintains accurate employee records in compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
- Conducts regular audits of personnel files and records.
- Assists in ensuring compliance with labor laws and organizational policies.
- Coordinates training sessions and tracks employee participation.
- Supports initiatives related to employee development programs.
- Monitors performance evaluation deadlines and supports managers in completing appraisals.
- Assists with drafting performance improvement plans as directed.
- Participates in planning and executing employee engagement and recognition programs.
- Supports wellness initiatives and other HR-related events.
- Prepares reports and provides administrative support to the HR Manager as needed.
- Maintains the HR SharePoint pages and updates information as directed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- 2-4 years of experience in an HR role, preferably in a generalist capacity.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Strong understanding of HR principles and practices.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Proficient with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Knowledge of applicable labor laws and compliance requirements.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
- Good visual acuity to work inside under artificial lighting.
- Able to sit for extended periods and perform work on a computer.
