About the Opportunity:
The Senior Director of Business Development is part of the Employer Engagement team but more importantly, represents the larger JVS team, thereby equitably contributing to programmatic team performance goals and working to support the overall mission and philosophy of JVS. The Senior Director, as a member of the agency's senior programmatic management team, will participate in strategic planning, will be a leader on the Employer Engagement team and partner closely with the BRS team, furthering the mission of developing Agency-wide standards for employer engagement and leveraging employer relationships to better serve JVS clients, JVS staff and the organization as a whole. The Senior Director of Business Development will work alongside the Career Path Programming/Skills Team, the Development Team, the Job Quality team, as well as with the Employer Services subcommittee members of JVS Board of Directors, setting and implementing strategies for success.
Over the next 3 years, the Senior Director of Business Development will oversee the implementation of portions of JVS's strategic plan, which include a scaling plan that will triple both the seat count and the current budget of the Talent Pipeline side of the Employer Engagement team, as well as oversee the expansion of our short-term biotech pipeline and implement new pipelines for green jobs.

Essential Functions, Skills, and Knowledge
Building Relationships, Collaboration, and Teamwork:
- Support and promote the mission and philosophy of JVS both internally and outside the agency
- Establish relationships with key stakeholders (clients/students, employers, partner organizations, funders,) and work collaboratively in a structured and on-going manner
- Work collaboratively with and encourage collaboration between JVS departments and divisions to ensure agency performance goals are met
- Lead program planning meetings and team-based projects
- Communicate regularly with the Supervisor to ensure successful program performance
- Provide leadership and exemplify resolving disagreements and conflict in a professional and productive manner
- Establish, build, and strengthen meaningful employer relationships
- Responsible for employer engagement activities including meetings, follow-up, and internal JVS coordination of communication activities with Key Employers
- Educate employer partners about JVS resources and coordinate multi-program employer meetings designed to address multiple needs at employer partners
- Participate in the agency-wide Business Relationship Specialist group, representing pipeline programming and business development functions
Program Leadership:
- In partnership with the program Senior Vice President and fellow Senior Director, take the vision for the 3-year strategic plan and create a project plan with realistic goals, milestones and outcomes
- Grow and expand the scope and impact of program services, including biotech and new green energy pathways as well as pipelines into other job roles/sectors, including direct care
- Oversee program expansion into Worcester
- Take ownership of the Senior Director role as a leader for JVS staff, clients, and partners
- Increase internal and external visibility of programs
- Hire, train, and supervise program management staff
- Model expected behaviors for JVS staff and clients
- Generate strategy and solutions in response to unforeseen and planned changes, setbacks and challenges
- Assist program managers and staff in areas of difficulty and provide additional support when needed
- Work with the agency leadership team on strategy and report on success and challenges
- Develop new products and services based on employer needs and client feedback
- Assess program success and stakeholder satisfaction, use results to make modifications and enhancements to services
- Develop, market, and execute JVS agency-wide employer development and engagement strategy through the creation of a marketing and outreach plan based on ROI and successes
- Participate in Leadership Team meetings when applicable
- Create a work environment where all staff and clients feel heard, can express ideas, learn, problem solve, and succeed
Administrative/Communication
- Provide all supervisees with a written annual evaluation meeting all agency deadlines for the process
- Contribute to grant proposals and budgets
- Implement agency contracts including oversight, reporting, and invoicing
- Develop grant proposals, contract budgets, and budget modifications
- Prepare and monitor program work plans, in support of JVS and contractual obligations
- Make adjustments to meet objectives
- Ensure program activities are in alignment with JVS objectives
- Analyze and report program progress, successes, and challenges to JVS leadership, funders, evaluators and other stake holders
- Control budgetary expenses and take remedial action as necessary
- Closely monitor expenses and revenue
- Manage and oversee full, timely contract implementation including staffing, systems design and development
- Develop and deliver agency-wide employer engagement training to all staff engaged with Key Employer partners as needed
- Perform other duties as requested
Education and Experience Required
- Bachelor's Degree
- Minimum 3 years of program leadership experience
- 2 years of contract/program management
- 2 years of experience in Business Development
- Supervisory experience is a must
- Program and people management skills
- Presentation and facilitation skills
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Experience in grant and proposal writing
- Experience in preparation of budgets
