Cleveland Clinic Akron General (CCAG), part of the robust Cleveland Clinic Health System and the largest hospital in the Cleveland Clinics Northeast Ohios (NEO) southern market, announces a search for the Adult Psychiatry Residency Program Director. The Adult Psychiatry Residency is part of CCAGs Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, which is closely linked to the Department of Psychiatry and Psychology at the Cleveland Clinics main campus.

This new and fully ACGME accredited Adult Psychiatry Residency Program is approved for 16 residents in total, whose inaugural class of 2021 of 4 psychiatry residents will graduate this June of 2025. Opportunities abound for this dynamic residency director candidate to build further core and niche rotations leveraging the Cleveland Clinic Health System and local partners in the Akron community.

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at CCAG has a full suite of psychiatric programs, including outpatient, inpatient, ER / CL, and IOP service lines, with interventional psychiatry ECT, TMS, and a developing ketamine program. Trainees work closely with a talented team of physicians, psychologists, advanced practice practitioners and therapists. In addition, CCAG has a post-PhD psychology fellowship and CCAG is a primary teaching site for two medical schools: NEOMED and OUHCOM. CCAG has a total of eight accredited residency programs and three fellowships that further promote interdisciplinary educational opportunities.

The Program Director has responsibility, authority, and accountability for the operation of the Adult Psychiatry Residency and reports to the Chair of the Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Department at CCAG, with a parallel reporting structure to the CCAG and Cleveland Clinic main campus DIO. In addition, there is an increasing working relationship with Adult Psychiatry, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and Consultation Liaison Psychiatry fellowship directors of the Cleveland Clinic main campus training programs.

The Adult Psychiatry Residency Program Director will be a physician with ABPN certification and possess the requisite clinical, educational, and administrative experience beyond residency training, to advance the CCAGs clinical and academic mission in NEO. Superb interpersonal skills, clinical and administrative integrity, and career development focus are highly valued characteristics for this position.
