ISI is recruiting a Manufacturing Engineer to develop design rules, interim products, standard norms and manufacturing instructions as part of the Production Engineering Team.
Reporting to the Design for Manufacture- Team Lead, the main scope of work for this role will include the following:
This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English. Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking an Engineer, Production Engineering, Design for Manufacture.
ISI is recruiting a Manufacturing Engineer to develop design rules, interim products, standard norms and manufacturing instructions as part of the Production Engineering Team.
Reporting to the Design for Manufacture- Team Lead, the main scope of work for this role will include the following:
- Develop design rules to communicate ISI Shipbuilding Manufacturing requirements to its design agent.
- Support development of interim products to enable attribution and categorization of parts and assemblies.
- Complete time studies and data analysis investigations to develop and refine standardized norms to enable accurate planning of construction work.
- Investigate through production, training, engineering, and review of technical information to write visual & concise Manufacturing Instructions that maintain design intent and advocate safety first and right first-time principles.

Qualifications:
- Education:
- Recognized Degree in Engineering - Example, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial or similar
- Accredited to the Professional engineer's nova scotia - P.ENG
- Experience:
- 4-8 years' experience in a complex industrial and manufacturing environment
- 4-8 years' experience with manufacturing process assessment and development
- Shipbuilding experience considered an asset
- Experience creating production or process documentation (manufacturing instructions, standard operating procedures and similar)
- Experience being the technical author of build procedures - writing, managing, and maintaining
- Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively in English, both orally and in writing
- Some experience working to IACS (Lloyd's, DnV, ABS, etc.) classification society rules
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products
