Senior Design Manager

As the Senior Design Manager, you will oversee daily operations and client management for global projects, with an emphasis on direct engagement with client offices as needed. Your involvement will extend from leading weekly work sessions to facilitating communications between clients and our PMO, as well as our architecture and engineering teams. With a deep knowledge of the architectural and interior design processes from initial concept through to construction administration, you will play a pivotal role as a "trusted advisor" to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate from our SF, CA office starting immediately upon hire.
  • Lead and provide strategic guidance on the global portfolio program to clients and team members.
  • Regularly participate in and conduct weekly client meetings in person.
  • Oversee the development and adjustment of client's interior architectural standards, ensuring clear communication across multiple project teams.
  • Initiate and guide initial design and sketching sessions with clients.
  • Seamlessly integrate engineering and architectural aspects into comprehensive designs to enhance client comprehension and project clarity.
  • Manage and lead large-scale or several mid-sized projects concurrently.
  • Cultivate and enhance client relationships, advocating for sustained partnership and design excellence.
  • Collaborate closely with Design Leadership and Project Management, and engage with Architecture and Engineering SMEs globally to promote an interdisciplinary design ethos.
  • Interact across all management levels within the company and with external parties, including clients.

Requirements

Position Requirements:
  • A robust professional background with 9 to 12 years of experience, specifically with a proven ability to steer multi-scaled design projects and client program standards.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited program in interior design or architecture.
  • Certifications in Interior Design and LEED accreditation are highly regarded.
  • Exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills, essential for effective relationship management and team coordination.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of specific design disciplines and a basic understanding of related fields.
  • Proficiency in developing project concepts and overseeing design execution, capable of mentoring and leading team members.
  • Expertise in building, safety, and accessibility codes relevant to interior design and architecture.
  • Demonstrated ability in FF&E selection, specification, and client advisement.
  • Familiarity with Revit and AutoCAD; knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is a plus but not required.
  • Preparedness for weekly travel to client sites and flexibility for additional travel as needed.
  • Willingness to accommodate flexible working hours to include both day and evening meetings.
