Buyer Planner (Outsourcing)

SUMMARY: This position is a full-time salaried position in the production control department and reports to the production control manager. This position will require both solo and team-based work with cross-department team members. This position's purpose is to manage cost of manufacturing for all products within IMS and make outsource decisions based on cost parameters. Projects will mostly be chosen by team consensus and will focus on cost reduction initiatives, improving existing processes or free shop capacity to accommodate the growth. Additional tasks will be made to key areas of production and will be chosen based on analysis of current processes and data collection. The outsourcing duties will include Vendor management, price negotiation and delivery attainment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Point person for outsourcing activities including vendor management, price negotiations and delivery schedules
- Key member for the Make/Buy decision process
- Complete monthly closing activities related to manufacturing costs, Labor and Overhead absorption, Work-In-Process inventory, freight and duties ensure timeliness and accuracy of closing procedures
- Special project costing & process development as assigned
- Product/manufacturing cycle time & cost variance analysis
- Ensure process integrity within Cost/Inventory and work with team members to resolve process issues
- Generally experienced in areas of manufacturing operations
- Member of manufacturing team, collaborating to provide appropriate business support, learning and sharing of best practices, striving for process improvements
- Assist Finance Manager, Operations and Plant Manager with the monthly close activity, including, but not limited, to financial report preparation, corporate reporting, and manufacturing variances.
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma
- Certified Six Sigma Green belt or APICS certification a plus
