Job Title: Fitter Job Description A Fitter specializes in fitting tubular structures and reading blueprints. Currently seeking skilled fitters to fabricate, fit, and assemble the structural components of various mechanical systems. To be successful as a fitter, you should be detail-oriented, focused, and adept at interpreting blueprints. Ability to safely use hand and power tools as well as demonstrate excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Responsibilities Fitting and joining, fabricating, and repairing metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate techniques in accordance with product specifications and production schedules. Laying out and assembling subunits or units of materials which are then welded into position by welders. Ensuring the product is fitted to the specifications of each job and the outlined requirements consistent with the production of quality UT passable welds. Specializing in fitting transmission power poles, Substation A-Frames, High mast poles, Highway sign poles, and other tubular structures. Reading and comprehending complex blueprints, drawings, and chalk lines. Playing around with and adjusting fitting based on the twist and camber of the pole. Working on A1 Frames & 12 sided poles. Setting up equipment, organizing, and laying out workstation appropriately. Using welding equipment such as torches, torch tips, and Air Arc. Using temperature sticks and welding fillet gauges. Essential Skills High School Diploma or GED 1 to 2 years fitter experience required Overhead and the person crane experience needed Ability to read blueprints and chalk lines Ability to adjust fitting based on twist and camber Knowledge of geometry (angles, degrees, pivot points) Flux Core experience Additional Skills & Qualifications Firm knowledge of welding symbols, welding diagrams, blueprints/shop drawings, and/or other printed instructional material in the welding of products or parts. Ability to use welding equipment such as torches, torch tips, and Air Arc. Ability to work in extreme temperatures (sometimes due to season). Ability to work additional hours, as needed. The environment can be cold or hot depending on the time of year, and it is non-climate controlled. Fitters will be working in conditions that can be extreme due to seasonal changes.
