About the workplace

This is a permanent, full-time role that will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Vancity head office location and your Lower Mainland based home office. Periodically, you'll be required to attend in-person activities or events.

The Director, Talent Development and Culture will have broad influence to drive cultural transformation across the company by championing the organization's culture, ensuring it aligns with Vancity's values and strategic objectives. The Director of Talent Development and Culture plays a critical role in the strategic development and execution of talent management, leadership development, and organizational development program roadmap that enables Vancity to engage, develop, and retain top talent, cultivate a robust performance and succession plan for future leaders, and enhance overall organizational effectiveness and agility in response to evolving business needs. In addition to coaching and leading a unified team.

Key Accountabilities:

Based on the above, your key areas of accountability are:

Talent Management:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of leadership and culture team members, fostering an inclusive, agile and collaborative environment.
  • Design and execute comprehensive talent lifecycle programs focused on identifying, nurturing, elevating, and retaining our people.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and HR business partners to identify long-term talent capability requirements to meet business objectives.
  • Design skills development roadmap to fill talent capability gaps with existing and new talent to meet business objectives.

  • Implement solutions to ensure long-term success, performance measurement and development of talent for critical roles across the organization for our business needs.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to assess organizational needs and create tailored strategies to promote organizational culture and engagement.
  • Develop and execute programs and initiatives that accelerate productivity and cultural integration of new employees.
  • Drive the growth of our top talent by ensuring they are identified and have robust development and plans to enable progressive career development and enhance their overall employee experience.


Leadership & Organizational Development:

  • Design and deliver leadership development programs that build managerial and leadership capabilities at all levels of the organization.
  • Implement and manage succession planning and talent review process to ensure a robust pipeline for critical leadership roles.
  • Design and deliver the learning tools needed to support agile culture and ways of working.
  • Design coaching and support for leaders to enhance their effectiveness and foster a culture of continuous learning and development.
  • Design a learning agenda and deliver training programs across functions.
  • Partner with senior leaders to identify leadership development needs.
  • Partner with HR teams in different business units to identify key needs and priorities; and ensure learning initiatives are prioritized.


Employee Experience, Engagement & Culture

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to understand the current organizational culture and develop a strategy to transform the workplace culture, encompassing diversity, equity, inclusion, employee well-being and organizational value.
  • Establish metrics to measure the effectiveness of culture initiatives and regularly report on progress to executive leadership.
  • Create and communicate a compelling employee value proposition that differentiates Vancity in the market, resonates with current and prospective employees and reinforces the organizational culture and brand.
  • Develop employee recognition program and strategy.
  • Orchestrate and regularly review the employee engagement life-cycle survey process to ensure it captures employee sentiment at the right time and drives actionable insights for enhancing the overall employee experience.


Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in leadership roles focused on talent management, culture, and organizational development. Prior experience with culture transformation is an asset.
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of cultural dynamics within organizations and experience driving cultural change initiatives.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actional plans and measurable outcomes.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels.
  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in data driven decision making and measuring impact.
  • Prior cultural transformation experience.

The salary range for the role is $121,000 to $181,200 and a candidate's offer is likely to be up to the mid-point of the role ($151,000). The upper half of the salary range is typically reserved for individuals who have demonstrated consistent strong performance in the role and possess a high level of job knowledge and skill.
