Job Description

We are currently seeking a Senior Culture & Talent Development Advisor to join our team.

The Senior Culture & Talent Development Advisor designs and implements effective assessments, frameworks, tools, coaching and training to optimize talent and enhance organizational health and performance. This includes leader and culture assessment, leadership and team effectiveness, succession, career planning, and change management programs and solutions aligned with First West's strategy, purpose and values. Provides thought leadership and partners with senior leadership, People & Culture specialists, and other key stakeholders to foster a healthy and engaging work culture, building organizational capability to lead, communicate, learn, grow, and change effectively.

Here's what would be included as a part of your typical day
  1. Senior Leadership Coaching & Development: Coaches senior leadership (individually and in teams) to enhance leadership capability to lead, communicate, learn, grow, change effectively and positively impact business results. Uses data and insights from organizational assessments to target coaching, applying a range of coaching and observation methods. As required, sources, develops, and/or customizes leadership development, team effectiveness and other programs for senior leaders. Contracts and coordinates with external vendors for specialist training, executive coaching, and leadership assessment.
  2. Organizational Assessment: Conducts leader and culture assessment (e.g. OHI and Pulse Check surveys, focus groups, discovery meetings, 360 feedback) and performs gap analysis to diagnoses challenges and provide recommendations to improve organizational health and performance, drawing on insights from a variety of sources.
  3. Culture, Talent & Organizational Development Programs: Partners with senior leadership, People & Culture specialists to determine required skills and behaviours to support current and future business needs and align culture and talent development solutions. Designs, develops, implements and evaluates programs on topics such as culture, employee engagement and retention, leader and team effectiveness, succession, and career planning. Applies the latest practices, models, and tools (including AI) in instructional design and adult learning. Maintains sustainability of programs beyond implementation, including intranet and learning management system content.
  4. Organizational Change Management: Participates as a member of FW's Change Management Centre of Expertise (CoE) in the ongoing design, delivery, evaluation, and evolution of the change management policy, framework, tools, and training. Collaborates to build organizational change management capability and ensure adoption and sustainment of desired practices. Facilitates change management training and coaching for the change community as needed.
  5. Projects: Leads culture and talent development projects from inception through to execution. Creates project and change plans, coordinates resource, manages to timelines and accountabilities, ensuring effective and on-time implementation. Supports the design of the annual Leader Summit, including theme, sourcing, and speaker selection, to ensure summit is aligned with cultural and strategic priorities.

Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications
  • 5 years' experience in organizational development consulting or similar, with a track record of successfully implementing organizational development initiatives required; 3 years' people leadership experience preferred
  • Hands on project and change management experience preferred
  • Post secondary degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required; Master's Degree is an asset.
  • Change management certified (e.g. Prosci, CCMP) is an asset
  • Certified coach (e.g. ICF), with 3 years hands on experience coaching executive and senior leaders is required
  • Experience with 360 feedback and psychometric assessments for evaluation and development is required
  • Strong understanding of organizational behaviour, change management principles and adult learning theory
  • Strategic thinker
  • Expertise in designing and developing leadership training, workshops, team effectiveness and culture enhancement programs
  • Exceptional influencing, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Displays an understanding of risk and risk ownership by being able to demonstrate adherence to policies and procedures
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent coaching and facilitation skills
