Description

The Dispatcher at TCAH is responsible for coordinating food deliveries, optimizing route schedules, and providing real-time support to drivers. Using Verizon Connect Reveal, the Dispatcher monitors vehicle locations and driver statuses to ensure timely deliveries to FVM, Satellite Partners, and other program sites. This role also includes coordinating food pickups from various locations to support TCAH's distribution programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Route Scheduling and Optimization
    • Develop and assign daily routes for TCAH drivers, ensuring efficiency for timely deliveries to FVM, the Cyber Pantry, Mobile Pantry, Super Pantry,Health360, WHSP, and Satellite Partners.
    • Adjust routes in real-time to accommodate delays, traffic conditions, or urgent needs, maximizing travel time and fuel efficiency.
  2. Real-Time Tracking and Driver Support
    • Use Verizon Connect Reveal to monitor vehicle locations and statuses, ensuring adherence to schedules.
    • Act as the main contact for drivers, providing updates, instructions, and support throughout their routes.
    • Notify drivers of route changes or food pick-up requirements, providing immediate assistance as necessary.
  3. Coordination with Warehouse and Inventory Teams
    • Collaborate with warehouse staff to ensure vehicles are loaded with the correct items and quantities for each delivery.
    • Track and verify inventory for outbound shipments, ensuring accuracy in items leaving the warehouse and alignment with partner requests.
  4. Safety and Compliance
    • Monitor driver compliance with safety regulations, vehicle height and capacity limits, and food safety standards, especially for perishable goods.
    • Use Verizon Connect Reveal data to track driver adherence to speed limits and safety guidelines.
    • Ensure all drivers follow health and safety protocols, including vehicle sanitation and proper food handling.
  5. Documentation and Reporting
    • Maintain records of delivery schedules, vehicle statuses, and completed routes, and report on efficiency metrics, using Verizon Connect Reveal data.
    • Generate reports on delivery efficiency, fuel usage, and delays to identify areas for improvement.
  6. Troubleshooting and Problem Solving
    • Proactively address logistical challenges, such as traffic delays, vehicle issues, driver absences, or rerouting needs.
    • Coordinate with maintenance providers to ensure timely vehicle repairs and upkeep.
  7. Engagement with Partners
    • Confirm delivery schedules with Satellite Partners and other sites, addressing any inquiries or concerns.
    • Support special events like the Children's Harvest Festival and Thanksgiving distribution by coordinating delivery schedules and managing unique logistical requirements.


Position Requirements

Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in logistics or fleet management preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a dispatch, logistics, or warehouse role; nonprofit or food distribution experience is beneficial.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency with Verizon Connect Reveal or similar tracking software.
    • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
    • Basic Microsoft Office skills for documentation and reporting.

  • Familiarity with NYC's boroughs, traffic patterns, and delivery logistics.
