Duties and Responsibilities
  • *Provide administrative staff support for the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources (CTAHR) Fiscal Office as an assistant fiscal administrator.
  • *Responsible for approval and posting of accounts receivables and payables, and addressing issues or discrepancies with requisitioners or appropriate system offices.
  • *Reconcile accounts regularly and monitor account balances, informing the Fiscal Manager and/or Principal Investigator of potential issues (i.e. Projected deficits, unallowable expenditures, etc.).
  • *Provide staff support in procurement including review and approval of requisitions, purchase orders, travel requests & completions, departmental checks and p-card transactions in accordance with Federal, State and UH policies and procedures.
  • *Provide staff support in contracts and grants management to include assisting with the development of project budgets, establishment of accounts, review of allowable expenditures and preparation of financial reports.
  • *Participate in training sessions for faculty and staff on fiscal topics.
  • Assist with providing administrative support to CTAHR's shared services team as needed.
  • Assist with providing administrative support to CTAHR's Human Resources Department as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Possession of a baccalaureate degree in arts, humanities, sciences, or business administration or a related field and 0 years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for fiscal and/or personnel administration; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
  • Functional knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in accounting demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply concepts, terminology
  • Functional knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and systems associated with accounting.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the accounting.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
Supplemental Minimum Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to use word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Some experience working in the University of Hawaii's fiscal environment.
  • Familiarity with the University of Hawaii's policies and procedures.
