Account Manager

This position serves as the main point of contact for the branch, working as a subject matter expert with all things tied to Customer Relations, Quality Control, Maintenance Safety Procedures, Ancillary Sales, and Budget Adherence.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Assists in overall leadership of the branch.
  • Develops and maintains long-terms relationships with clients.
  • Ensure clients are highly satisfied and contractual obligations are met or exceeded.
  • Maintain exceptional client retention through effective communication, site visits with clients and board members and creation of team atmosphere between client and vendor.
  • Manage all aspects of the maintenance contract including base maintenance operations, irrigation, agronomics, seasonal color, mulch installation, palm & tree pruning and any ancillary services. This includes self-performed and subcontracted services.
  • Identifies and develops opportunities for enhancements of existing landscapes.
  • Develops and retains a maintenance staff comprised of experienced, highly trained, and professional team members.
  • Represents company at various events, organizations, and associations for the purpose of building relationships that lead to new business. Acts in capacity of company representative and develops community ties to enhance public image and brand of the company. Maintains positive relations with other companies in the industry and related industries.
  • Assists the sales team with winning new work to the branch/organization.
  • Establishes and implements quality assurance processes.
  • Manage organization's resources, including, but not limited to, equipment and materials and ensure that good housekeeping and preventative maintenance practices are followed.
  • Develop crew schedules and routes with a focus on efficiency.
  • Understands and assists in preparation of bids and contracts.
  • Remains accountable and adheres to labor budgets and P&L guidelines.
  • Provides ad hoc reports to management as needed.
  • Direct reports will vary by branch.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures to include OSHA and Federal/State DOT requirements.
  • Responsible for completing all mandatory training classes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Field Management or closely related field and a minimum of five years' relevant experience required. Prior Landscape or Construction Industry experience preferred. Must have a current state driver's license with acceptable driving record. An equivalent combination of related training and experience may substitute for degree requirement. Bi-lingual communication is a plus.

  • Proven track record in managing a portfolio of accounts in excess of $1.5M in annual revenue.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team of maintenance crews with hyper focus on safety, quality, training, professionalism, customer service and advancement of the company brand and culture.
  • Proven knowledge of accepted business software, mainframe systems and the Internet.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and make recommendations accordingly.
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Excellent listening skills using patience and empathy.
  • Highly motivated, well organized, detail-oriented, creative, and innovative.
  • Must possess excellent time-management skills and be able to multi-task.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with a displayed emphasis on Excel.

Work Environment | Physical Demands:

While this role involves working from a desk part of this time, when conducting site visits, physical demands require constantly moving, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling when performing installation or repair of equipment. May need to stand and walk, lift and/or move up to 50 to over 100 lbs. with assistance. Performs repetitive motion. It is frequently required to be exposed to an outdoor environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, pollen, weather extremes or similar elements for portions of the workday if visiting a potential client worksite.
