Lakeside HR Group has been engaged to recruit a Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) for our client in the construction industry located in Midtown Atlanta, GA. The CHRO will be instrumental in shaping and executing the entire company's HR strategy, ensuring that our client's people practices support their ambitious growth goals. This role demands both strategic leadership and hands-on involvement in day-to-day HR operations. The ideal candidate will bring significant experience in HR leadership within M&A environments, private equity-backed companies, and industries such as construction, engineering, or manufacturing. As a member of the executive team, you will play a key role in presenting to the board of directors and ensuring that the HR function scales effectively, enabling our client to attract, develop, and retain top talent.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement HR strategies that align with the company's overall business goals, particularly during periods of growth and M&A activity. Provide strategic HR guidance to the executive team and the board of directors.
  • Talent Acquisition & Development: Lead initiatives to attract, recruit, and retain top talent across all levels of the organization. Oversee leadership development programs to ensure future company leaders are cultivated.
  • Mergers & Acquisitions: Manage the HR component of mergers and acquisitions, including integration, cultural alignment, and organizational restructuring.
  • Private Equity Experience: Work closely with private equity stakeholders to prepare the company for potential transactions, ensuring the organization's human capital strategies align with financial and growth objectives.
  • Board & Executive Partnership: Act as a key partner to the CEO and executive team, regularly presenting HR strategies and progress to the board of directors.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee key HR functions, including payroll, benefits, employee relations, compliance, and HR systems. Ensure the HR function supports the operational needs of a growing organization while balancing hands-on work with high-level leadership.
  • Culture & Engagement: Foster a culture of employee engagement and performance by implementing programs that reflect the company's core values, promoting diversity, inclusion, and employee well-being.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive HR leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a CHRO or senior HR executive role.
  • Proven experience in M&A, including due diligence and post-merger integration, preferably in a construction, engineering, or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with private equity or preparing a company for transactions.
  • Strong understanding of talent acquisition, leadership development, and succession planning.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage with and influence executive teams and boards of directors.
  • Ability to balance strategic HR leadership with hands-on involvement in day-to-day HR operations.
  • Demonstrated success in scaling HR functions to support rapid business growth.
Work Environment:
  • The role is based in Midtown Atlanta, GA and involves working on-site in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Travel to our client's sites throughout the Eastern Coast is required.
