This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Lead Water Resources Engineer for our Blue Bell, PA office. The following locations will also be considered: Philadelphia, PA. The candidate will be involved in projects with our Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.
Your Impact
- With minimal supervision and assistance, perform high-level professional water resources engineering work and analyses, relating to dams and hydraulic structures, and surface water management in accordance with applicable laws, rules and standards.
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for dam breach studies, floodplain mapping and stormwater infrastructure design.
- Prepare watershed studies, floodplain studies, and evaluate regulated impoundment structures for compliance with regulations.
- Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, reports, models, cross-sections and other illustrations for the interpretation and presentation of complex data, findings and analyses.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations that clearly explain analysis methods, findings and recommendations.
- Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
- Collaborate with, oversee and monitor cross-functional teams to execute mid-level projects which may include geotechnical work, environmental assessments, and regulatory permitting to provide future ready solutions for clients.
- Provide project level task management which may include developing budgets and tracking hours and expenses for task completion.
- Coordinate, review and approve infrastructure design plans, ensuring data integrity and work is compliant with all applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations.
- Prepare and implement site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
- 7 to 10 years of relevant post education experience in water resources engineering.
- Engineer license required.
- Proficient knowledge of water resource engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to environmental permitting and project work-related issues.
- Well-defined knowledge with Stormwater Management, Drainage, Erosion and Sediment Control, Hydrology & Hydraulics Design, Watershed Studies, Floodplain Delineation, etc.
- Proficient ability to coordinate with agency regulators and understand requirements.
- Well-developed ability to make technical computations and calculations involving the application of engineering principles, understanding plans and specifications and making factual comparisons to the appropriate regulations.
- Ability to plan and conduct inspections and investigations on various aspects of the construction and design of facilities or structures, applying applicable regulations and policies.
- Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
- Highly proficient with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
- Proficient understanding of and well-defined experience with surface water, hydrologic and hydraulic methodologies and models (HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS 1D and 2D, SITES, SWMM), and managing special data in ESRI ArcGIS and AutoCAD software.
- Working knowledge of FEMA flood studies, floodplain analysis and hazards analysis.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, with a focus in Water Resources or closely related discipline.
- Certified Floodplain Manager
- Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.
