You will be based in our Boston, Denver or Houston office, joining the Energy Solutions team within McKinsey's Global Energy & Materials practice.

Your impact within our firm

As a Knowledge Analyst you will join McKinsey's Energy Solutions team with a focus on People & Organizational Performance (POP). In this role you will be instrumental in shaping our benchmarking and organizational intelligence within the energy industry.

You will drive analysis and research to provide unique insights for client serving teams and clients directly, as required. You will support the development and maintenance of capabilities (including assets, knowledge, tools, case studies) across organizational performance and operations topics.

Daily problem-solving will be a central aspect of your job. You will work alongside your manager, the leadership of Energy Solutions, our colleagues from the People & Organizational Performance (POP) team as well as other functions across the firm. As you gain experience, you will contribute to the strategic direction of these topics and help develop more detailed projections. You will deepen your expertise in energy markets and become a go-to expert in your content area, supporting colleagues and clients, including on longer-term client-serving projects.

Your qualifications and skills

  • Undergraduate degree; degree in business administration, analytics, management, or human resources a plus
  • 1+ years of work experience; in human resources or working within analytics, operations and/or organizational change topics a plus
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, with an interest to build on programming capabilities a plus
  • Ambition to work in a fast-paced, result-oriented team with steep learning curve and strong commitment to coaching and development
  • Comfortable with problem solving in both conceptual (qualitative) and analytical (quantitative) topics
  • Proven record of leadership in a work setting and/or through extracurricular activities
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and effectively with people at all levels in an organization
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing, in English
