GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Controller will be responsible for managing the accounting operations of the company, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:
  • Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives
  • Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information
  • Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions
  • Respond to inquiries from the Senior Director of Finance and Accounting, and other finance and firm-wide managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests, etc.
  • Other responsibilities as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability to perform the essential functions:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • CPA or CMA preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and budgeting
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Preferred experience with Sage Intacct software

OTHER INFORMATION
  • This position requires more than 40 hours a week including routine meetings after regular business hours.
  • This position requires periodic travel to and between practice locations and related companies, as needed and required
  • Ability to travel to various OrthoNY locations if needed. Reliable transportation is essential.
