Job purpose
The position is a multifaceted role that includes the design, development, improvement, implementation, and support of industrial electrical systems as well as providing leadership, mentorship, and experience to junior electrical engineers and designers in relation to industrial electrical systems.
Being client-centered, this role requires the ability to function as a consultant to clients on an ongoing basis. The position is expected to have extensive industry knowledge and can potentially manage a project from start to finish including estimation, sourcing, scheduling, troubleshooting, completion, and continued follow-up with clients to further business arrangements. This position is expected to lead in research and help develop solutions for clients.

This position routinely operates in a professional office environment with the potential for travel. Field visits may include working environments such as factory floors where industrial machinery is present and in operation.
Physical requirements

The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide expertise in various aspects of electrical design, programming support, team, and aspects of electrical engineering.
- Provide mentorship to junior and lead electrical engineers.
- Research and analyze client requests associated with electrical systems.
- Supervise projects independently of direct supervision.
- Generate analyses, specifications, cost estimates, and estimated construction schedules for projects.
- Coordinate with various engineering groups including controls and mechanical fields to assist in designing systems for projects.
- Design concepts, drawings, equipment specifications, and control concepts for industrial electrical systems including motor control centers and variable frequency drives.
- Communicate with clients, vendors, and relevant stakeholders on projects.
- Perform problem-solving and repair of electrical systems in the field.
- Monitor, modify, and update existing electrical systems and programming including HMI, PLC, and DCS programs.
- Travel to provide on-site support during start-up phases of projects as well as providing follow-up support as needed.
- Prepare and present technical information to peers, teams, and clients.
- Actively participate in a working environment where teamwork, quality, and innovation are highly valued.
- Conduct meetings with teams, groups, and clients.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering from an accredited program.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in a related field.
- Active PE with the ability to obtain a license in NC and VA.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microstation software packages.
- Knowledge of PLC and DCS programming systems as well as HMI design.
- Ability to accurately interpret and critically evaluate design drawings, schematics, and systems.
- Demonstrated competence in monitoring, leadership, and development.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and maintain quality service while under pressure.
- High level of conscientiousness and attention to detail.
- Ability to work alone or within groups as necessary.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills (e.g. Being able to explain technical issues to clients using common language.)
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat or other PDF reader.
