Air Force Family Medicine Doctors play a crucial role in ensuring that military personnel and their families receive top-tier medical care, both in peacetime and during conflicts. Key Responsibilities:
* Primary Care:
* Deliver comprehensive primary care services to Air Force personnel and their families, across all age groups.
* Manage common, acute, and chronic health conditions, emphasizing preventive care and health education.
* Deployment Readiness:
* Ensure medical readiness of servicemen and women, providing care and medical clearance for deployment.
* Potentially serve in forward operating bases or medical aid stations during times of conflict or humanitarian missions.
* Team Collaboration:
* Work cohesively with healthcare teams, including nurses, specialists, and support staff, ensuring optimal patient care.
* Engage in multidisciplinary teams, aiming to manage complex cases effectively, and ensure holistic patient care.
* Educational Endeavors:
* Remain abreast of developments in family medicine, continuously improving clinical skills and knowledge.
* Participate in or lead educational programs, ensuring the medical readiness and clinical skills development of the medical team.
* Healthcare Administration:
* Engage in administrative duties, such as record maintenance, resource management, and adherence to healthcare policies.
* Participate in or lead committees focused on quality improvement, patient safety, and healthcare service optimization.
* Research Participation:
* Involve yourself in, or lead, clinical research initiatives, aiming to enhance medical knowledge and improve healthcare delivery within the military context.
* Community Involvement:
* Participate in community health initiatives, ensuring the general wellness of the Air Force community.
* Engage in family advocacy, supporting the diverse needs of military families.
Qualifications:
* Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
* License: Active and unrestricted medical license to practice medicine in the U.S.
* Board Certification: Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine.
* Military Requirements: Meet all military health and physical standards and commit to a period of service as per Air Force requirements and be a US Citizen.
* Experience: Prior experience in family medicine is preferred. Military health experience is a plus but not a requirement.
