The City & Borough of Juneau Parks and Recreation Department is hiring!

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for fun and energetic applicants with good communication and organizational skills who enjoys working with community members of all ages in an aquatic setting. Applicants must be able to understand exercise, swimming and aquatic safety concepts and be able to communicate them to students verbally as well as with physical demonstration. WORKING HOURS AND LOCATION
This position works out of the Dimond Park Aquatic Center. Hours for this position may vary depending on the type of activities the employee is leading but will work during the pool's operating hours.
Typical Responsibilities

This position independently provides leadership of Aquatic fitness or skill classes using a wide variety of methodologies. Activities may vary from fitness classes to swim instruction, the employee will lead programs including on-deck demonstrations and in-water demonstrations for youth, adults and/or seniors. This position works with the Pool Supervisor to develop and implement curriculum for classes and activities.
Minimum Qualifications

Experience:

Six (6) months of experience organizing and/or implementing recreation activities OR

supervising a recreational facility.

Licensure:

CPR within 30 days of employment

Note: Under Alaska Statute 12.62.160 (9) Appointments to this position are offered conditionally,

pending the results of a criminal records report (Non-FBI). Human Resources evaluates the

results to ensure the applicant does not have any convictions that result in a direct nexus to

the primary duties involving supervising minors. Applicants who materially misrepresent any

may be dismissed if already employed.

For Masters Swimming Coach:Prior competitive swimming experience is desirable
