Position Overview: As Endeavor 3D breaks out into the next level of Additive Manufacturing, we are looking for an experienced Director of Technology. This role focuses on leading technology development in additive manufacturing, emphasizing leadership, project management, and technical expertise, making it suitable for experienced professionals looking to advance their careers in this field. The Director of Technology job is to oversee and drive our additive manufacturing technology initiatives focused on polymer and metal materials. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in manufacturing in a high production environment. Proven leadership skills and a track record of successful on-time delivery while managing complex projects are crucial. This role is key for advancing our technology capabilities and supporting innovation in our product development processes. Key Responsibilities: Team Leadership and Management: Lead and manage a team of Engineers and Technologists specializing in Additive Manufacturing. Provide mentorship, guidance, and performance management to ensure team members achieve their full potential. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to integrate additive manufacturing solutions into product development and production processes. Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment. Directly participate and lead with Technology Partners (HP, DyeMansion, and others). Technology Strategy and Development: Develop and implement technology strategies for additive manufacturing processes and materials, focusing on metal and polymer applications. Oversee the research and development of new additive manufacturing technologies and processes that align with the core business objectives. Identify and evaluate emerging technologies, trends, and best practices to enhance our additive manufacturing capabilities. Collaborate with accounting for product costing strategies and sales for product pricing strategies. Customer and Industry Responsibilities: Work closely with sales to establish customer-centric requirements of order requirements and lead times. Available for customer-facing meetings and general marketing engagements, including customer meetings, webinars, and speaking engagements. Project Oversight and Execution: Manage multiple technology development projects, ensuring alignment with company goals, timelines, and budgets. Monitor project progress and make necessary adjustments to meet objectives and deadlines. Process Improvement: Analyze existing additive manufacturing processes and identify areas for improvement in efficiency, quality, and cost. Implement best practices and standard operating procedures to optimize production workflows and technology performance. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with other departments, including Sales, Marketing, R&D, product development, and operations, to support technology integration and innovation. Communicate effectively with senior management and stakeholders, providing updates on technology advancements and project status. Budget and Resource Management: Develop and manage budgets for technology development projects, ensuring effective allocation of resources. Manage inventory levels as required for production. Track expenditures and ensure projects are completed within budget constraints. Quality Assurance and Compliance: Adhere to industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines in all additive manufacturing processes. Enforce quality assurance protocols to meet product specifications and performance criteria. Follow compliance requirements of ISO 9001:2015, ITAR, AS9100D, and other standards. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred. At least 5-7 years of experience in AM service bureau or contract manufacturing, with a strong background in polymer and metal materials. Prior experience in a managerial role is required. 5+ years of management experience in manufacturing. Software experience with MES, ERP, and Microsoft Office. Experience with Six Sigma. Experience desired in an environment compliant with ISO 9001:2015, AS9100D, and ITAR. Technical Skills: Expertise in plastic and metal additive manufacturing technologies, including MJF, FDM, SLA, and SLS for plastics, and Metal Binder Jet or other sinter required additive processes for metals. Proficiency in materials science related to polymers and metals. Experience with CAD/CAM software and additive manufacturing design principles. Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage teams effectively. Strong project management skills, with experience in overseeing complex projects from inception to completion. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to various stakeholders. Additional Information: The role may require occasional travel to attend conferences, workshops, or customer meetings. Competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with experience. Visual Acuity: The ability to accurately read gauges, monitors, and equipment displays is essential for monitoring production processes and identifying potential issues. Hearing: Being able to hear alarms, equipment noises, and communication from team members is important for maintaining safety and efficiency in the manufacturing environment.
