Position Summary:
The Barback is responsible for supporting the bartenders and ensuring a smooth operation of the bar. They assist in maintaining cleanliness, restocking supplies, and assisting with beverage service to provide exceptional guest experiences.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the bartenders in preparing and organizing the bar for service, including setting up garnishes, glassware, and bar tools.
- Keep the bar area clean and well-maintained, including wiping down counters, bar tops, and equipment to ensure a hygienic environment.
- Restock the bar supplies throughout the shift, including liquor, mixers, garnishes, ice, and other necessary ingredients.
- Wash and polish glassware, utensils, and bar tools, ensuring they are cleaned and ready for use.
- Retrieve and replenish stock from storage areas, including liquor bottles, kegs, and cases of beer or wine.
- Dispose of empty bottles, cans, and trash, following proper recycling and waste management procedures.
- Assist in maintaining a well-organized storage area for bar supplies, ensuring easy access and efficient workflow.
- Prepare and deliver non-alcoholic beverages and water to guests as needed.
- Collaborate with the bartenders to fulfill drink orders accurately and in a timely manner.
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization of the drink station and back bar area.
- Support the bartenders in preparing and presenting specialty cocktails and mixed drinks.
- Provide exceptional customer service by promptly attending to guest requests and inquiries.
- Assist in closing procedures, including cleaning and organizing the bar area, restocking supplies, and securing equipment.
- Follow all safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper handling of glassware, bar tools, and cleaning chemicals.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude, contributing to a harmonious and efficient work environment.
REQUIREMENTS
- Previous experience as a Barback in a fine dining or upscale bar setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of bar operations, including basic drink recipes, glassware, and bar equipment.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills to handle multiple responsibilities and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift and carry heavy items, including cases of beverages and kegs.
- Professional and polished appearance, adhering to dress code and grooming standards.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure cleanliness and presentation standards are met.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with bartenders, waitstaff, and guests.
- Flexibility to work in shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Basic math skills for accurate counting and measuring of ingredients.
- Ability to work well in a team and support the overall bar operations.
- Willingness to learn and take direction from supervisors or managers.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Knowledge of responsible alcohol service practices and compliance with legal drinking age verification.
- Positive attitude and willingness to contribute to the overall success of the bar and restaurant.
- RBS or similar certification for responsible alcohol service is required.
