Special Events Internship

MetLife Stadium, home to the NY Giants and NY Jets, has an opportunity for a currently enrolled college junior or senior to intern at MetLife Stadium this Summer in our Special Events Department. Our internships are unpaid, selected students are scheduled 2+ days per week, and would be assigned to Special Events that are occurring during the internship time frame, from May to August 2025. Interested students applying for the Special Events Internship will observe, acquire skills and participate in the process of selling of non-game day events within MetLife Stadium in order to generate profitable revenues for the organization. In addition to the acquisition of new events, the Special Events Intern would be heavily involved in the planning and execution of private stadium events. Due to the uniqueness of the Stadium hosting (2) NFL teams, numerous concerts, soccer and family events, the schedule for the special events intern would include attending events in the evening, weekends and often holidays.
The intern will work closely with the Assistant Director of Special Events, manager, coordinators, and various departments throughout the organization.
Some of the areas that will be included, but not limited to:
- Help to identify potential new clients and contribute to sales calls, follow ups and closing of agreements
- Shadow the special events team through events from start to finish to acquire the necessary skills to understand the operational side of events
- Respond to general inquires, interacting with customers, vendors, colleagues
- Understand the CRM system such as GATHER program and how it relates to the organization
- Aid in the departments' database including collection, distribution and maintenance
- Assist with the photo database of product for website and other marketing materials
- Assist in generating event proposals and contracts
- Represent the organization at private and stadium-wide events
- Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings
- Support the department with special projects as assigned
- Shadow all members of the Special Events team as they complete their responsibilities
- Assist with the growth of the tour program and training of tour guides, in addition to attending guided tours of the stadium and interacting with students at all learning levels
- Superior organizational skills and ability to function in a fast-paced, multi-task setting
- Possess excellent listening, oral and written communication skills
- Plan, organize and understand the need for prioritizing given tasks
- Work with others in a professional manner while attempting to achieve a common goal
- Must have working knowledge of the following Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and savvy in internet research
- Assisting with events throughout the week and weekends if needed
- Taking picture of event set ups and during events & adding them to the Shared Drive
- Ensuring events locations/spaces are ready to go prior to event start dates and "set up" properly
- Supporting Special Events Department with organization and administrative tasks
- Assisting with the Tour Program and being able to be an "onsite" tour guide if needed
- Being able to be flexible with schedules and events
- Creating spread sheets and assisting with event proposals and contracts
- Helping to reduce and execute successful events for multiple clients throughout the internship program
- Representing the organization at multiple events
Schedule:
Due to the unique Stadium schedule the event operations intern would be required to attend events in the evening, weekends and often holidays.
