We're looking for candidates with claims supervisory experience in injury claims associated with Auto, Homeowner's, Business Owner's, and Personal Umbrella lines of business.

The Auto and Casualty Claims Supervisor directly reports to a Claims Manager of the Claims Department and is an integral member of the Claims Leadership Team. The Claims Supervisor is responsible for the analysis and management of claim files within their unit. Supervision includes claim assignments, coverage analysis, establishment of and adherence to action plans in claim files, reserve accuracy, effective negotiation, litigation oversight, and appropriate resolution. The Claims Supervisor is charged with managing pending claims, improving file quality, and controlling expenses, and making full utilization of all productive resources at their disposal.

You'll be responsible for:
  • Supervising Auto and Casualty Claims Adjusters.
  • Reviewing performance, adherence to claim procedures and regulatory compliance.
  • Identifying training needs and conduct training, as needed.
  • Coaching and mentoring staff.
  • Maintaining responsibility for claim results including such elements as reserve adequacy, loss costs, loss expenses, payment accuracy, claim service delivery, timely investigation, evaluation, and disposition of claims.
  • Developing and implementing reviews to ensure that claims technical standards are being met and improvement opportunities are recognized and communicated.
  • Approving claim action plans in accordance with best practices.
  • Frequently communicating with all appropriate parties involved with the claim.
  • Actively executing appropriate claims activities to ensure consistent delivery of quality claims service.
  • Managing litigation claims, selecting, and evaluating defense counsel, and identifying applicable defenses and resolution opportunities.
  • Providing weekly/monthly reports to Claims Manager regarding statistics and staff performance.
  • Completing annual performance reviews for staff, with contributions from Claims Manager.
  • Approving time off requests for direct reports and ensuring sufficient coverage is available to meet the needs of the business.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree/Masters/JD or Insurance Designation and two to four years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient on database software, internet software, spreadsheet software and word processing software.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Proven Leadership track record.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • In-depth knowledge of appropriate legal principles.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
