Job Description:

The LSU School of Music invites applications for a full-time Business Manager position. This person will serve within the College of Music and Dramatic Arts, executing daily business office operations including financial accounting and reporting, budget development and management, reconciliation, purchasing, and personnel activities.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Overseeing the School of Music Business office and all financial functions. Monitoring unit and sub-unit budgets and preparing budget reports for the School of Music Director. Reconciling accounts monthly. Serving as a liaison between the School of Music and the LSU Foundation and managing all associated Foundation and agency accounts. Serving as a delegate for all financial functions for SOM faculty, staff, and students. Overseeing purchase requisitions. - 50%
  • Managing SOM state and private scholarships. - 10%
  • Supervising one Business Officer who manages LaCarte spending for all SOM faculty/staff; processes all personal services contracts; processes all faculty travel (not group related); and tracks all expenditures as budgeted by the Business Manager. - 10%
  • Working with School of Music Director to orient all new employees, as well as train new faculty on financial responsibilities such as LaCarte management, travel procedures, etc. - 10%
  • Developing, recommending, and implementing policy and procedures relating to the financial management of the School of Music. - 10%
  • .Oversees all aspects of the School of Music Opera budget. - 10%
Minimum Qualifications
  • Degree: Bachelor's Degree.
  • Years of Experience: Three years
  • Specific Experience: Three years of related accounting, budgeting, or business operations experience in a higher education setting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree: Master's Degree
  • Specific Degree: Master's Degree in Business, Accounting, or related field.
  • Years of Experience: One
  • Specific Experience: One or more years using Workday.

LSU has a vibrant and collaborative media arts community. The Center for Computation & Technology (CCT) supports LSU's Cultural Computing Focus area, and includes Experimental Music & Digital Media, Digital Media Arts & Engineering, and Digital Arts, offering opportunities to compose for video games, digital animations, and film.

LSU has an enrollment of nearly 30,000 students and is located in Baton Rouge, the state capital of Louisiana and a city with a metropolitan area population of approximately 500,000. The city supports a vibrant performing arts scene, including: symphony orchestra, several dance companies, various eclectic concert series, and a professional theatre company.
