Associate Attorney (Full-Time, Remote)
A plaintiff's civil litigation law firm seeks a motivated and independent litigation attorney for our Oakland office. Our firm has over 40+ years of representing plaintiffs, with two offices in California. We are looking for an associate to join our team to support a senior attorney, whose caseload consists primarily of sexual harassment, employment, and sexual assault cases. The position involves direct client work with sensitive populations, discovery, depositions, and regular court appearances. We offer a flexible work environment, and our office is entirely remote. This is an excellent opportunity for an associate looking for independent work and the opportunity to take the initiative and grow their skills.
ABILITY to:
• Work independently on an active litigation caseload of approximately 30 cases.
• Propound and respond to written discovery.
• Draft and respond to pleadings and pre-trial motions, including demurrers, Motions to Quash, Oppositions to Motions for Summary Judgement, Motions to Compel, etc.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Second chair trials and arbitrations.
• Work effectively in a remote work environment.
REQUIRED Skills:
• Clear communication skills, including ability to listen and pro-actively address issues.
• Ability to prioritize litigation workload and flexibility in managing time.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including a sense of humor.
• Excellent written and organizational skills.
PREFERRED Skills:
• 2 to 5 years litigation experience, preferably experience as a plaintiff-side attorney either in employment, personal injury, or sexual abuse.
• Experience taking and defending depositions, arguing motions.
• Substantive knowledge of childhood abuse law, malpractice, insurance issues, and/or employment law
JD and California Bar License required.
Salary: Commensurate with experience.
