Business Development Director - Port Drayage

Job Overview: Our transportation client located in Houston, TX is looking to add a Business Development Director to their Port Drayage division. This individual will be instrumental in driving strategic growth for the Supply Chain/Port Dray line, developing strategic plans to establish and expand relationships with new customers, enhance revenue streams, and ensure profitability. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a keen ability to identify opportunities, lead initiatives, and close deals.

This is a Direct Hire role.

What you will be doing as a Business Development Director - Port Drayage...
  • Identify, qualify, and develop new business opportunities through strategic planning and prospecting efforts.
  • Coordinate with the solution design team, relationship managers, and service offering owners to develop tailored client solutions.
  • Prepare for and lead contract negotiations, ensuring favorable outcomes for both the company and the customer.
  • Drive lead generation efforts by conducting proactive sales calls and follow-ups.
  • Maintain ongoing interactions with customers, ensuring satisfaction and exploring opportunities for growth.
  • Ensure effective and timely account management by leveraging CRM tools and practices.
Skills you ideally bring to the table as a Business Development Director - Port Drayage...
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Minimum of six years of sales experience, ideally within the transportation industry.
  • Proven track record of strong prospecting and lead generation skills.
  • Exceptional financial management abilities, with an eye for identifying profitable opportunities.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, capable of engaging stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to travel extensively (50-75%) as required by the role.
