Overview
The PR manager is responsible for overseeing the development and execution of integrated external communications plans for the firm's attorneys, practices, pro bono activities and special initiatives.
The successful applicant will have an understanding of law firm practices and have the ability to position those practices and lawyers associated with them in the marketplace, including media outlets and rankings directories.

The anticipated pay range for this role is listed below in alpha order and represents our good faith and reasonable estimate of the starting salary range at the time of posting. In addition, this role is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on performance. The actual offered rate for this position will be determined based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors, including qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data and consideration of internal equity.
Boston $117,000 - $175,000
New York $112,500 - $184,000
Working Conditions
This position requires hybrid on-site presence as an essential function of the role. Consistent and predictable on-site presence is required for ongoing business continuity, professional development and effective collaboration with colleagues and management.

Overview
The PR manager is responsible for overseeing the development and execution of integrated external communications plans for the firm's attorneys, practices, pro bono activities and special initiatives.

Responsibilities
- Create and execute PR plans for the firm's practices, industries, and initiatives, from ideation to completion; Prepare and review press releases, briefing sheets, and media pitches
- Build relationships with firm attorneys and work closely with them to identify key messages and thought-leadership
- Manage PR team members
- Build and strengthen relationships with media outlets and journalists; Serve as a key point of contact for inbound media inquiries; Identify and manage media opportunities and maintain strong relationships with reporters
- Stay up to speed on trending topics in several law practices
- In consultation with Senior Director of PR and Marketing Communications, conceive and develop integrated communications plans for key practice groups and geographies
- Manage outside PR consultants, and other consultants as needed
- Track results, measure and analyze media coverage; prepare quarterly reports on communications initiatives and results; identify areas of success and improvement and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Distill and communicate key messages rapidly and succinctly
- Demonstrates sensitivity to partners and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality of the firm's internal affairs and client matters
- Be proactive in terms of communications ideas and execution
- Provide proactive counsel to partners on communications efforts, including media coaching; Advise partners on effective and customized PR strategies
- Understand, internalize and function in unique corporate culture
- Interact comfortably with partners, senior associates, senior staff and various constituent group
- Bachelor's Degree is required; JD not essential but beneficial
- Minimum ten years' of professional experience
- Three-to-five years' experience with PR agency, law firm, professional services organization or media outlet preferred
- Strong relationships with print, broadcast and social media influencers
- Strong project management skills, ability to effectively manage multiple media opportunities across different practice groups
- Demonstrated success in leading PR initiatives for a world-class organization Demonstrated ability to grow and mentor junior colleagues
- Superior writing and editing skills; experience writing for and to lawyers and senior executives
- Energetic, passionate oral presenter in an organized, fact-based way
- Must be able to communicate effectively at all levels across different practice areas and functional areas of firm departments
- Strong listening skills to digest, process and guide strategy and problem resolution
- Strong research skills, including use of Lexis/Nexis and other research tools, and proficiency with media databases and media monitoring tools
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint
