RPh on the go is searching for a Retail Pharmacist Travel Contract (13-Weeks) Wrangell, Alaska


Term of Assignment: ASAP 13 Weeks
Shifts: 1st Shift, Monday-Friday (No Weekends)
Hours: 8:30 AM 5:30 PM (Lunch: 1:00 PM 2:00 PM)

Job Duties:
  • Prescription Review:

    • Assess all prescriptions for appropriateness, legality, completeness, contraindications, interactions, allergies, and adverse reactions.
    • Conduct patient chart screenings and consult with prescribers to resolve any concerns prior to dispensing.
    • Document all clinical activities and interventions.
  • Prescription Verification:

    • Verify finished prescription orders promptly and accurately, ensuring all record-keeping and documentation is maintained.
    • Work independently with minimal supervision, organizing and prioritizing work assignments.
  • Patient Counseling:

    • Advise patients on medications, including indication, drug name and strength, usage, and expected changes.
    • Ensure patient understanding and communicate regularly with patients and healthcare providers to resolve issues.
  • Medication Management:

    • Perform chart reviews for prescription refills and medication therapy management.
    • Write recommendations for providers and request refills on behalf of patients.
    • Provide drug information and education to staff regarding drug therapy.
  • Supervision and Training:

    • Direct pharmacy support personnel and verify daily activities of pharmacy technicians.
    • Serve as a role model and educator for pharmacy students and technicians, without overall supervisory authority.
  • Quality Improvement:

    • Participate in clinical and administrative activities including quality control and improvement initiatives.
    • Attend meetings and participate on committees as requested, ensuring availability and control of medications.
    • Select appropriate drugs for formulary and take on additional departmental responsibilities as assigned.
  • Health Promotion:

    • Engage in health promotion and disease prevention activities related to drug use and preventive drug therapy.
Required Qualifications:
  • Licensure: Clear and active pharmacist license in any state.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of outpatient or chain retail pharmacy experience.
