  • Job Location: New York, NY - 10038, United States.
  • Duration: Initial contract of 6 months, with extensions.
  • Remote Work Options: This is a fully on-site work setting, 5 days/week in the office required. (Local candidates preferred)


Position Overview: Our team is seeking a dynamic and analytical Business Analyst with expertise in Power BI, ETL processes, and reporting to join our team in New York. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of Property and casualty (P&C) insurance processes and the ability to derive insights and solutions from complex data. This role is critical for driving strategic decision-making by providing actionable insights and fostering a data-driven culture.


Key Responsibilities

Data Analysis and Insights:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and document business requirements for reporting and analytics.
  • Analyze large datasets to identify trends, opportunities, and anomalies impacting P&C insurance operations.
  • Translate business needs into actionable insights using Power BI dashboards and visualizations.


ETL Development and Maintenance:

  • Design, implement, and optimize ETL processes to ensure seamless data extraction, transformation, and loading from various sources.
  • Maintain data integrity and consistency across systems and platforms.


Reporting and Visualization:

  • Create, maintain, and enhance reports and dashboards that drive key business decisions.
  • Ensure timely delivery of accurate and insightful reports to cross-functional teams.


Business Collaboration:

  • Act as a liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders to ensure alignment of technical solutions with business goals.
  • Provide training and support to users on Power BI and reporting tools.


Insurance Domain Expertise:

  • Leverage knowledge of P&C insurance, including underwriting, claims, and policy administration, to develop relevant analytics solutions.
  • Work closely with underwriters, claims adjusters, and actuaries to address their data and reporting needs.


Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements within reporting and data workflows.
  • Stay updated with emerging BI tools, analytics techniques, and P&C industry trends.


Qualifications and Key Skillset for this Role

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field.


Experience:

  • Minimum 8+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in a data-driven role.
  • Proven experience working with Power BI, including DAX and M Query.
  • Hands-on experience with ETL tools (e.g., SSIS, Informatica, or equivalent).
  • Prior experience in Property & Casualty insurance is highly preferred.


Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in SQL for querying and data manipulation.
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases and data modeling concepts.
  • Expertise in creating visually appealing and insightful dashboards in Power BI.


Soft Skills:

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
