The
Staff Accountant I
supports the US pole fiber procurement function of Stella-Jones, reporting to the Accounting Manager. Primary responsibilities in this role includes accounting for log harvest movement from forest-to-market, financial analysis, general ledger duties, period closings, account reconciliations, and a variety of other accounting functions related to production accounting. The position requires a self-starter with initiative and exceptional organizational skills, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines and provide follow up.
Once training and team integration are complete, this will be a
hybrid role
(in-office with some remote work) based at our Tacoma office. Additionally, there may be some limited travel in the US and Canada in this role (expected to be 5% or less).
Principal Responsibilities:
Complete monthly, quarterly and annual financial close process under the direction of the Accounting Manager. Prepare journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations. Compile, enter and analyze financial information. Analyze key processes and recommend internal control improvements. Support activities to import and interface data from LIMS to SAP Assist during internal / external audits with documentation requests and questions Adheres to all internal accounting controls, policies, and procedures Perform ad hoc projects and analyses under the direction of Accounting Manager. Partner with management to prepare value added analysis and reports. Assist team members in their tasks and responsibilities as needed, promoting a culture of mutual support. Keep Accounting Manager apprised of potential concerns and statuses. Apply principles of accounting theory and use of judgment and other professional skills to determine the appropriate procedures for preparing and maintaining accounting records and reports. Participate and contributes to company safety program. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and one or more years of experience

Three years of Accounting work experience w/ Associate's degree in Accounting (Note: Candidates with significant experience beyond these requirements may be considered for a higher-level Staff Accountant II position.) LIMS experience highly preferred SAP experience preferred Excellent Microsoft Office skills (including Excel) Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to handle a variety of phone calls with various suppliers and team members. #STELLAUSCORP3
