The Staff Accountant will prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and assist in the month, quarter, and annual close processes. They are responsible for ensuring the month end close process is completed timely and efficiently and will assist the Accounting Manager in ensuring all financial entries are recorded in accordance with GAAP to properly reflect the financial status of the company.

Essential Job Functions:

Compiling and classifying financial information Balance sheet account reconciliations - including bank reconciliations, prepaid and accrual account reconciliations, intercompany, fixed assets, work in process, parts and equipment inventory reconciliations, and other balance sheet clearing accounts Documenting business transactions, assisting in implementing new accounting processes, and recommending process improvements Create and execute general journal entries based on supporting documentation Produce recurring monthly accrued and prepaid expense account entries Performing month end close Maintain fixed assets records and associated depreciation schedules Prepare annual personal property tax returns Assist with monthly sales tax returns for multiple entities and states Prepare monthly commission schedules for sales employees Assist with researching variances for monthly financial analysis Assist in annual budgeting process Cross train on all accounting modules Support / backup for the billing department Supervisory Responsibilities:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in accounting required, CPA preferred but not required

Knowledge:

3-5 years of general accounting experience - some public accounting experience preferred Strong knowledge of GAAP Strong knowledge of balance sheet reconciliation Knowledge of excel and office suite Knowledge in QuickBooks or Fishbowl a plus Skills:

The ability to handle/ grasp documents or office equipment. The ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time. Applicant must be able to speak clearly and have adequate hearing to communicate effectively either in person and/or on the telephone. Vision must be sufficient to read materials and view a computer screen for extended periods of time. The ability to move loads up to 20lbs, bend, stoop, or kneel may be necessary based on documents/ office material that need to be processed.
