Position Summary: The Operations Manager / Focus Factory Manager plays a pivotal role in leading Sterling's manufacturing operations, driving efficiency and ensuring the safe, timely, and cost-effective production of high-quality products. This role oversees multiple production teams and value streams, focusing on eliminating waste, optimizing workflows, and implementing Lean manufacturing principles to meet operational and financial goals. By managing budgets and fostering collaboration across departments, suppliers, and external stakeholders, the Manager ensures that production activities are aligned with Sterling's growth strategy and profitability objectives.

Essential Functions:

Oversee daily operations of the focus factory, optimizing production workflows, resource allocation, and meeting production goals while maintaining or exceeding profitability. Lead a multidisciplinary team, including production supervisors, leads, and support personnel, to drive on-time delivery of high-quality products within budget constraints. Implement Lean manufacturing principles to streamline production processes, minimize waste, and enhance operational efficiency, contributing to bottom-line performance. Develop and execute production plans that balance growth, cost control, and profitability to meet both short- and long-term financial targets. Collaborate with engineering, quality, and project teams to solve production challenges, optimize resource usage, and align operations with both project and profitability objectives. Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production output, quality rates, on-time delivery, and production costs, addressing issues as needed to maintain financial performance. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to drive operational efficiency and financial optimization, ensuring growth aligns with cost-effective processes. Maintain compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards while managing operational and financial risks. Oversee departmental budgets, including labor, materials, and equipment costs, with a strong focus on maximizing profitability and controlling expenses. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support consistent operations, scalability, and cost-efficiency in a growing environment. Provide regular updates to upper management on production performance, cost control initiatives, and opportunities for improving profitability. Consistently demonstrate commitment and support for the Sterling vision, mission, policies and procedures. Perform work in compliance with work instructions and policies as outlined by management. Cultivate strong partnerships with cross-functional teams to support business goals. ll other duties and projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, operations management, or a related field. t least 7-10 years of experience in operations management, with a focus on manufacturing or project-based environments. Proven experience managing costs and driving profitability in a manufacturing environment. Lean Six Sigma certification or equivalent experience in continuous improvement. Strong working knowledge of ERP systems (Microsoft Navision preferred). Demonstrated ability to manage production schedules, budgets, and operational teams in a high-growth, cost-sensitive business. Experience in the wood, construction, or manufacturing industry preferred. Proven ability to lead large teams and manage operations in a fast-paced, growth-focused manufacturing environment. Expertise in balancing operational performance with financial targets, including cost control, profitability, and margin improvement. Strong experience in implementing Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to drive both operational efficiency and cost reductions. Proficient in managing production costs and departmental budgets to optimize operational and financial performance. Strong ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and logistics teams to achieve both operational and financial goals. Skilled in using data and KPIs to drive operational improvements, control costs, and ensure production targets and financial objectives are met.
