Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant is a vital member of our team. This position will oversee the day-to-day accounting operations for our operating facilities. This position is responsible for managing and ensuring accurate financial reporting, inventory management, compliance with GAAP, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. The Senior Accountant will work closely with operations to provide financial insights that support business decision-making and process improvement. Critical skills for this position include solid experience with GAAP to ensure compliance, clear communications, being a team player, maintaining confidentiality, detail-oriented, and acting with the highest degree of integrity.
The candidate should have the drive and desire to learn and provide solutions in supporting the successful growth of the Company. Critical to this role is a demonstrated ability to be self-directed in prioritizing important tasks while working with limited oversight. Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting and General Ledger: • Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and daily treasury activities • Prepare, review, and post journal entries to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP. • Conduct monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes. • Perform account reconciliations for assigned accounts, identifying discrepancies and making necessary adjustments. • Prepare financial statements and reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Inventory Management: • Track inventory movements and maintain accurate inventory records for raw materials and finished goods. • Reconcile variances from monthly and year-end physical inventory counts and prepare inventory valuation reports. • Work with operations to implement inventory controls and reduce discrepancies.
Budgeting and Forecasting: • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecast by providing cost data, trend analysis and financial insights. • Support the Finance team in preparing financial projections for capital expenditures, labor, materials and overhead costs.
Compliance and Audits: • Ensure adherence to GAAP and company policies for financial reporting and compliance. • Assist with internal and external audits by providing required documentation and explanations. • Maintain organized records of all financial transactions and related supporting documents.
Process Improvement: • Analyze current accounting processes, identify areas for improvement, and recommend solutions to increase efficiency. • Support with implementations and integrations of new systems and software as needed. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance data accuracy and streamline reporting.
Financial Analysis and Reporting: • Provide management with insights into financial performance, including key metrics, variances, and trend analyses. • Develop ad hoc analysis and reports to support decision-making for production and cost control
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing environment.
Skills: • Strong understanding of GAAP and cost accounting principles. • Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems (experience with Microsoft Dynamics or similar preferred). • Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and financial modeling. • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and analytical skills. • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams. • Team player with a positive attitude and flexible to adapt to changing needs/priorities. • Ability to meet deadlines and work extended hours during peak periods (month-end, year-end close, etc.).
