Olympic Plumbing Technology is looking for an HR/Administrative Assistant to join our team in our Olympia office. This position requires a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. The HR/Administrative Assistant will play a crucial role in onboarding new employees and complying with current Washington State HR laws, policies, and procedures. Strong organizational skills, as well as proficiency in using various software, are essential for success in this role. The ideal person for this position has proven expertise in Human Resources and administration. This includes benefits, compensation, reporting, benefits, and training. To be a competent HR Assistant, you should be patient and compassionate, have excellent listening skills, and be able to multitask effectively. 

Key Responsibilities:

Human Resources Support:

  • Assist in recruitment activities, including posting job openings, reviewing resumes, scheduling interviews, and coordinating with candidates.
  • Prepare and maintain employee records, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date (e.g., employee contracts, benefits forms, performance reviews).
  • Coordinate and administer onboarding and offboarding processes, including new employee orientation, exit interviews, and exit paperwork.
  • Assist in the preparation of HR reports, employee surveys, and other HR-related documents.
  • Help organize training sessions, workshops, and other employee development initiatives.
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including healthcare, retirement plans, and wellness programs.

Administrative Support:

  • Answer phone calls, emails, and other communication channels, and direct them to the appropriate personnel.
  • Schedule appointments, meetings, and conferences for HR and other departments as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation and organization of internal and external meetings, events, and conferences.
  • Handle general office tasks, such as filing, scanning, faxing, and managing correspondence.
  • Assist with document preparation and maintain filing systems (both physical and electronic).
  • Other duties as assigned 

Compliance and Policy Support:

  • Ensure the company complies with all relevant labor laws and regulations by assisting with audits and record-keeping.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive employee information and HR matters.
  • Help ensure company policies and procedures are communicated to employees and adhered to.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional HR certifications (e.g., SHRM-CP) or degree in human resources or related field is a plus.
  • Proven experience in administrative or HR support roles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and HRIS systems.
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with integrity and confidentiality.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.

Work Environment:

  • MUST BE LOCAL TO THE OLYMPIA/TACOMA AREA. This is a hybrid office/remote position
  • Part-time position with working 10-20 hours a week. (Potential to grow into a full-time position)
