What We're Looking For: The Vice President, Product Management is responsible for ensuring a comprehensive and industry leading portfolio of products and services, to enable this vibrant ecosystem, and deliver high quality customer experience utilizing state-of-the-art technology that continues to evolve ahead of our customer needs. This is achieved through strategic planning, oversight of all core product and service roadmaps, and development of compelling product offers, across Iridium's portfolio. In this role, you will also partner with Iridium's technical teams to support innovation, research and development, and continuous improvement into our network and products and translate that to mid- and long-term business strategies to support company growth. What You'll Do: Lead and develop a product management team across all Iridium commercial product and service offerings and across all vertical applications including Land, Maritime, IoT and Aviation. Foster and develop a highly effective, collaborative environment where accountability and clear, effective communication is demonstrated daily; inspire the team to create market leading solutions. Act as a trusted partner to executive leadership team for input on decisions. Collaborate with the executive team, including SVPs/EVPs for commercial and USG sales to enable growth for the company and to prioritize and align the product roadmaps to meet future market expectations and projections. Develop strategic plans, including marketing requirements and product specifications for the product development, gateway, and systems operations teams to design and develop products and solutions. Proactively work across all functions to ensure products and services fit into relative company functionality (software systems, billing systems, etc.), processes, and procedures. Identify and evaluate fundamental issues, providing strategy and direction for major functional areas, including the development of detailed and fact-based business case, market demand description, product definition, features and functionality for executive presentations and roadmap decision-making. Approve and provide resources to support established project plans and oversee product management through the development and launch phases. Develop and manage product readiness teams ensuring that all organizations are prepared to launch products and services on the plan of record launch date. Oversee creation of technical, user, and marketing documentation for internal and external use for all products and services. Provide on-demand support to sales teams via technical presentations, sales training material, white papers, lab demonstrations, and other customer engagements. Oversee training of all Iridium distribution and development partners on functional operation of Iridium services and products. Oversee development and implementation of product management processes, as required, to drive effective management of product development and success. Drive continuous improvements cross-functionally, ensuring collaboration occurs between departments. Lead team whose primary purpose is to introduce new products, services, feature enhancement requests and respond to customer issues. Develop and manage department budgets and understand the impact to corporate objectives for opex, capex, and R&D as they relate to product development, product revenue, and profitability, all of which contribute to overall company goals. What You'll Need to Succeed: Bachelor's degree required, MBA preferred. 15+ years of experience in product development and/or management. 15+ years of experience in cellular, networking and/or satellite voice and data products and services. Experience managing, mentoring, and coaching employees. Demonstrated strategic influence and consensus-building among all levels of leadership and across multiple teams. Ability to effectively present information, drive discussion, and respond to difficult scenarios across the organization. Ability to plan and lead formal meetings with executive leadership team, as well as collaboration across teams providing product level plans. Ability to come up to speed quickly with company systems, proprietary systems, and emerging technology. Ability to multi-task, improvise and solve complex problems and manage with minimal supervision. Results driven, strong sense of ownership, strong sense of urgency. Skilled at organizational development, personnel management, change management, budget and resource development, and strategic planning. Demonstrated ability to "think outside the box" and propose creative alternatives. Enthusiastic and passionate with the ability to simplify complex technical & business issues/ideas for those without the same depth of understanding even in challenging situations. Demonstrated ability to establish customer and partner relationships. Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table: International Travel experience is preferred. Proficiency in English is required and one or more languages is preferred e.g. Spanish. Additional Information:
This role reports to the EVP Sales & Marketing with direct access and interaction with the c-suite. This role manages a team of 8-10 Product Managers. Strategic input and influence into an annual budget that includes the following: $15M R&D $75M Capex Product Portfolio for > $800M - $1BN combined revenues annually. Potential travel of 25-40%. Position based in Tysons, VA or hybrid for right candidate. Work Environment:
This position primarily works in the company office or in a home office. The position is largely sedentary with the majority of the position sitting in a chair and working with a computer. The role uses basic office equipment including a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse and printer.
