The Opportunity

Measurement Specialist will provide Operational and Project support for Measurement equipment and Gas Quality equipment in the Heartland Area for the Southern half of Wisconsin and Illinois.

Measurement Specialist with the knowledge and experience in remote diagnostics of SCADA and the controls necessary for the safe and reliable operation of a measurement station, timely measurement data transfer and logging, gas quality analyzers, and power distribution systems.

This individual has the proven skills, competencies and capacity to support the development of capital projects, system designs, project commissioning, maintenance plans, measurement station audits, and assist with root cause failure analysis investigations. Successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate and contribute in a team environment.

This position may sit in other TC Energy locations: Western Oklahoma to Burlington Iowa.

What you'll do
  • Troubleshoot issues with measurement, regulation, control, and power systems
  • Read and interpret mechanical, electrical and circuit drawings
  • Investigate, prepare summary reports and provide solutions with Lost and Unaccounted for volumes
  • Interpret codes (NEC-XFO 277 and AGA Recommended Measurement Practices)
  • Assist with equipment failure investigation
  • Support the data needs for Real Time System (RTS) at the facility level
  • Perform monitoring and diagnostics of raw data collection and data transfer
  • Troubleshoot issues with flow computers, Remote Terminal Units (RTU), telecommunications equipment, process controls, motor controls, gas quality equipment, odorization equipment, indirect fired heaters, and state-of-the-art technologies for enhancing Company applications
  • Assist with the development of flow computer and RTU code for process changes or improvement
  • Support the development of the O&M and capital programs
  • Maintain industry standards and regulations as applied by AGA, FCC, NEC, DOT, ANSI, OSHA, etc.
  • Provide technical guidance in conducting Root Cause Failure Analysis for EFM, SCADA, telecommunications and process control installations
  • Maintain and manage software applications related activities for, laptops, flow computers and associated diagnostic/development utilities
  • Develop equipment preventative maintenance plans, maintenance procedures, and equipment replacement plans
  • Provide support to the O&M Team Leaders during regulatory audits
  • Provide technical support for a variety of electronic/electrical/pneumatic systems utilized in the operation of measurement and regulation facilities to transport natural gas.
  • Evaluate needs, then develop and implement diagnostic and interfacing utilities for EFM and telecommunication for M&R station-related equipment
  • Work with manufacturer representatives to solve complex performance issues with equipment
  • Provide reliability engineering technical support and defect elimination support
  • Other tasks as required


Minimum Qualifications
  • Two-year technical degree or equivalent education or experience in electronics
  • 6 or more years of experience working with measurement / electronic / electrical / pneumatic control systems
  • Troubleshooting, problem solving, and data analysis skills
  • Capable of working in a self-directed work team environment
  • Possesses core competency skills in Gas Measurement / Regulation / Odorization / Gas Quality Measurement
  • Strong oral and written communication skills


Preferred Qualifications
  • Work planning skills with computerized work management experience
  • Strong working knowledge of gas measurement devices such as orifice, turbine, ultrasonic and rotary/bellows type PD meters and Coriolis
  • Working knowledge of gas quality analytical equipment such as process chromatographs, H2S/Total Sulfur analyzers, water vapor analyzers, and Oxygen Analyzers
  • Working knowledge of control elements such as positioners, pneumatic relays, electronic and pneumatic actuators, stepper motors, I/P, flow and pressure controllers
  • Working knowledge of communication devices such as data radios, cellular data units and modems.
