LICENSED HEALTH CARE INSTRUCTOR (FULL-TIME POOL) Posting Number - S499 This position is open to - Open to All Applicants Job Title - LICENSED HEALTH CARE INSTRUCTOR (FULL-TIME POOL) Department - Continuing Education Position Type - Exempt Employment Status - Full-Time-Staff Salaryr - $63,081.00 per 12 months Open Date - 11/11/2024 Close Date - 12/12/2024 Open Until Filled - No Position Summary Information Job Description Summary The purpose of this position is to conduct classroom instruction and clinical training of health care students leading up to national and state certification. Instruction of other health care related courses will also be assigned to earn a completion credit. The Licensed Health Care Instructor will supervise students in a classroom and lab clinical setting. Some courses will require supervision of students at assigned local Texas Department of Health and Human Services approved long-term care nursing facility and other health care facilities, maintaining required student records including attendance, grading, student progress, and skills training. The Licensed Health Care Instructor works under the general direction of the NATCEP director, assistant director and program manager. The Licensed Health Care Instructor confers with the NATCEP director, assistant director and program manager regarding student attendance, grading, progress, clinical site coordination, scheduling state and national certification examination, and other essential duties as required for the Health Care programs. Travel is required within surrounding counties. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. One (1) year long-term care facility experience. Licensed in the State of Texas as LVN or RN. Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Knowledge of long term care facility regulations on patient care. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively present information to students through lecture and clinical skills training including through online learning platforms. Ability to utilize various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, lab demonstrations, and web-based learning management systems such as Canvas. Ability to plan, coordinate, manage and direct classroom, skills lab, and clinical training for students. Preferred Qualifications Associates or Bachelors degree in Nursing. Teaching experience in higher education. Experience supervising staff in a clinical or health care setting. Special Instructions to Applicants This is a security-sensitive position. Job Duties Provide classroom and clinical training to health care students leading up to certification for adult and high school students at Del Mar College campuses and centers, including off-campus training locations throughout the Coastal Bend and surrounding areas. Prepare course work, curriculum, and build online Canvas shells. Instruct summer courses at the Center for Economic Development Center, Oso Creek, and Windward campus. Supervise students in a classroom and lab clinical setting. Supervise students in a clinical setting at an assigned and approved local long-term care nursing facility and other health care and lab facilities. Assist with registration and the collection of all documentation for high school and adult students. Maintain required student records including attendance, grading, student progress, and skills training completion. Coordinate class scheduling, clinical site assignments, assist with inventory for labs and other related duties as assigned by the NATCEP director, assistant Director and Program Manager. Prepare course schedules and submit to the Business and Registration Office for section building. Prepare health care labs at the beginning of the new academic year including assisting administration with the supply lists and equipment orders. Close out health care labs at the conclusion of the academic year. Assist with ordering new equipment and supplies for the Center for Economic Development Center, Oso Creek and Windward campuses, before the conclusion of the budget year. Assist with creating new health care workforce programs for the Continuing Education department to include both high school and adult programs, as needed. Participate in teacher prep days before the new academic year begins.
